Okay, so i've decided that I want to run homebrew on my wii, primarily to run backups of my games. Resident evil 4 is getting scratched a bit too much and i'd die if I lost that

I'm not gonna lie, i've got a little lost.
So, i've done the twilight hack and i've now got the homebrew channel on too. I want to load backup loader gamma but whenever I try to load Cios (I think that has to be installed first?) I just get a black screen? Not really sure what is going on.
Also, can someone explain gecko loader to me? I've heard there has been some success with that patching iso's right?
Just point me in the right direction, i'm normally pretty good at figuring stuff out.
