Switch OFW is 6.2. I use SX OS and they recently started supporting this. So excluding all of the other CFWs, what am I LOSING from updating from 6.1 or whatever to 6.2? This excludes:

- Burning Fuses.
- Possible future incentives for having a low FW.
- Dev Menu does not work on 6.1+

Burning fuses unless use a method which saves them. Pretty pointless if you’ve come this far!

Not sure about devmenu, I use a combination of the built in installer or the new custom installer.

I only updated so I wouldn’t have issues with game updates. So far SXOS working great for me :)

theres only one advantage to updating to 6.2 is that when new games come out that will require 6.2 firmware, youll be able to play them.

unless someone is able to rip a game apart and fake sign the required firmware then there is no reason to remain on an older firmware, if you do, youll only be limiting yourself to been able to play old games and nothing new.

Please understand this. Future firmware means future keys, and future features/syscalls. "Fake sign"ing for an older firmware will not magically make the apps work on that older firmware.

So as far as I could see... Nothing. Just the usual 3 I mentioned above.. Maybe I WILL update.

You can update without burning fuses. Who cares about dev menu when tinfoil/goldleaf and dz/tinfoil exist?

You gain the ability to play new games that require 6.2.0. You lose nothing if you update with ChoiDujourNX and save your efuses.

First off, devmenu absolutely works on 6x, you just don't have the right copy. Advantages: you don't have to patch 6.2 keygen games and updates for your older firmware. Disadvantages: None now that fuses don't really matter. Still update using Choi, but really fuses are a concern of the past now .

what’s even the purpose of saving your fuses. serious question, asking for myself.
Before a few days ago, if you burned fuses you could never downgrade to a lower firmware than you were currently on without sleep mode being broken. This has been fixed. I'm OCD so I like to still update with Choi and save them, but even if you burned them you will not experience any negative effects moving forward.

i’m i 6.2., when 6.2.1 or 6.3 or whatever comes out, should i upgrade with the choi thing (can never remember the name) or should i just update officially? iirc if you were on 4.1 you could potentially warmboot in the future, but for people like myself who are already on 6.2, what are the benefits keeping fuses? my bad i know that’s a lot lol i just really don’t get this

Warmboot will probably be a thing for everyone without an ipatched switch in the future. Because they fixed the problem with sleep mode, you can always downgrade to any FW moving forward. You can safley update to 6.2. It will cause you no problems . Just always use Choi for good measure and you will be good to go. If in the future you want to downgrade you always can. Keep a backup always goes without saying.

Then there's users like me who are super banned and can't update without Choidujour. So updating without it isn't an option, which means I couldn't burn fuses even if I wanted to

Just want to be clear here I updated from 5.1 to 6.2 using choidujur, are you saying because the sleep mode problem was fixed, I could have updated and burned fuses and still be able to downgrade. I always recalled hearing not to burn fuses just in case a cfw that doesn’t require a jig comes out for a lower firmware.

If you updated with Choi you didn't burn fuses. Even if you were to burn them they will never cause you an issue. You are good to go. You can use Hekate to check how many fuses. If it says 6 you didn't burn them.

You simply don't have to worry about it anymore.

With that being said, never blindly update to the next FW lets say 6.3 without waiting and readning about it first. But you don't have to worry, go enjoy your switch XD
