Hacking 5.4.0 update firmware available

You are not missing anything. I set it up a couple of days ago and that will be 15 minutes of my life I never get back. It was slow as molasses and I didn't even get the point of it.

I prefer the likes of watching movies/shows via USB and Netflix rather than through TV channels with bloody ads. So I'm just happy they at last removed the icon which was never used in Europe.

My Wii U is set to update automatically so I don't have to worry about doing it myself.

If you do that without any eshop filtering, don't forget to disable "background download" in the download manager while you are playing.
That setting is not saved and will reset to "enable download" when you reboot (or maybe when you exit the game?) so be careful.

Yeah, I actually had that happen and my Wii U did update right after I shut it off (forgot to remove internet settings). I quickly turned it on again after realizing I didn't remove the internet settings, and saw it had updated. Who knows, maybe another exploit will be found for 5.4.0 sometime.

Yes, there is a patch! wiiulib.arndroid.nl no longer works....before it did.
