yeah they have a FPGA, but they decided not to connect the update legs to the 3ds (probably just to avoid gateway detecting the clones and bricking the card like what happened to old NDS card clones)......but anyway it backfired, they got bricked even worse and cut off any way of them updating the FPGA

Woah!! pretty tough, though!GW!Are they still using that bricking code in the latest upd?
I heard that it was even risky for legit users!!

a refined version, shouldnt be any more gateway bricks, wouldnt be sure if anyone clones it although MT seem to be doing a pretty good job, but that's what everyone thought about R4I/3DSlink, i say its better to not have the real devs taking potshots at you so i will stick with GW....whilst i dont agree with the bricking stuff i can see why they do it

Doesn't look like it.

Haven't been using my 3DS lately, will be cool if if this ends up being legitimate.

Apparently they just made the checks less strict, and fixed the diagnostics bug, but it's still there.

Ow I see, what about MTC is it legit or just another clone?
a better clone, but still copying gateways code.......but be warned many are in denial about it, but several devs have also confirmed its just another clone.....even rumors it was the R4i/3dslink v2 and they *sort of* learnt from their mistake and now properly check the code before copy and pasting.....thats just a rumor though ....it doesn't even take a dev to notice the pattern though :P

I was about to pick up a gateway but since I heard about the bricks caused to legit users.I dont know what I should do now, then if the MTC is a clone I don't want to take the risk to buy it and being left half the road roaming in the desert lol.
that's very sad for 1.2 GW based clones users

The best looking one right now that hasn't risked it's user base with console-breaking code is MT-Card. If you're looking to get a flashcard, go with them.

well the code has been refined and fixed, im sure gateway will be super through in future, suppose it is worth mentioning 2.0b2 was still a beta, i would prefer to know any traps included are not intended for me :P

You need a couple of facts. First of all, very few legit GW users (maybe less than 10 users worldwide) got bricked with a BETA 2.0b2. Second of all, ZERO users got bricked since GW 2.0 OMEGA.

With that said, if you decide to support MT card you are supporting the team that is unable to innovate the 3DS scene and overcome obstacles on their own -- they copy them from Gateway. As I mentioned in another thread, "don't bite the hand that feeds you" in this case the feeding coming from Gateway.

tl;dr Supporting MT card means you are slowly killing the 3DS scene and telling gateway to pack their bags and leave because their sales will drop

Haha Do not worry I've read every single post these avatar tinylittle tits posted in very thread I came across.
Then I do agree with most of what you have said, but before going any further and order anything I'll be watching what's going on the scene and I'll chose the right product, then the only reason whose pushed me to buy a 3DS is the upcoming pokemon games OR & AS, if you wonder 'what about Pokemon x&y I'd taht i would have been waiting that somebody gets bored of playing & get his console & GC to play one of'em.

I do not wish to get into an argument but multi-ROM is not a real obstacle. Crypto is.

Yeah, and then a USB-updateable card comes out. Not detectable by the 3DS, but an FPGA update option the clones didn't have hmmm...

We can even reproduce the bricking procedure of BETA 2.0B2. Just enter card diagnostics, leave it, go into GW mode and turn the 3DS off. There's a chance of 1/5 that the 3DS gets bricked.

And also there were easily more than 10 people with GW bricks on the spanish forum that detected the first clone bricks. I know because they were die-hard gateway defenders until their time came. ( Some unbricked with rasp and when update came still defending it , fking fanatics)

GW Omega has been out since March 30 and as far as we have heard no bricks. Even if the B-Code is still intact they have obviously tamed it from bricking their users.

I still am going with the conspiracy theory that MT-Card is actually getting help/assistance from GW team. I think after the original brick fiasco (with r4/ds-link) cards the dirty cloners went to Gateway and made an arrangement.

I own both cards and they are both very stable now Using GW2.2 and MT 1.4/1.2 and I have had no locks, save corruptions, bricks or anything.

What we do know is GW is the 'Daddy' of the 3DS flash cart scene and until another team/company comes along and does anything/something first/new that will be the case. I would not make my decision based on past brick fiascos. If price/availability is similar then go with Gateway for sure.....if these are issues in your market/territory then MT is a decent alternative.
