Good lord, can we please lock this useless thread?
The YouTube app on the 3DS is dead. It's not being brought back, there's no point in bringing it back. Use the New 3DS's web browser to watch YouTube on the thing if you really want to, or you could just, ya know, be like a somewhat normal person and use YouTube on your cellphone or laptop. It's really not a hard concept to grasp.

there are so many things wrong with this, i'm just going to list them
1. you're missing the entire fact that the old 3ds browser has NO video capabilities whatsoever
2. it's not as simple as "just watching on a cellphone", some people prefer the 3ds, or like me, want to experience the old app again after not using it for so long.
3. just because someone wants to watch youtube on their 3ds, does NOT make them any less of a normal person than you and i
4. what you're saying is like going up to people watching youtube on their wii, and saying "you shouldn't be able to watch youtube on your wii, just go get a smart tv like a 'normal person'"

Fairly certain that all streaming services are dead on the 3DS now, Netflix now included. Hell, Netflix doesn't exist on any Nintendo system at this point. Beyond Youtube on the Wii U, there are no available streaming services on a Nintendo system outside of the Switch, and even the Switch doesn't have a ton to offer. I kinda get it at this point, we all have smartphones that we carry with us, if we wanna watch something on the go, we can just whip out our phones, and all our modern TVs are smart TVs with all the streaming apps inside them.

Having said that, I do think the Switch is a more compelling piece of hardware for streaming apps though given it's hybrid nature, and how nice it can be to be watching a movie or show on the TV and in an instant be watching it in your hands for whatever reason you may be leaving the room. Frankly its the one gaming system that should have streaming services the most, yet it has the least to offer compared to Sony and Microsoft's offerings.

1. I'm not missing that fact, I know very well that the old 3DS browser has no video capabilities. But if you're insistent on using an old 3DS to stream videos, and not anything else like a laptop, computer, smartphone, smart TV, modern console, Roku box, Raspberry Pi, etc. (you probably already have at least one of those, and if not a Raspberry Pi starts at like $30, as does a Roku Express), all of which have far better streaming capabilities and far higher resolution screens than the 3DS ever did, I encourage you to stop for a second and think about what benefit you get from watching YouTube on a 3DS. Do let me know if you figure it out, I'm genuinely interested.
2. It is just that simple. Not only does the 3DS offer a subpar video experience to literally anything else because of the small screen, subpar speakers, and limited processing power, the app wasn't all that remarkable at all (even though it was used as a homebrew entrypoint in the past) and I can personally say I feel no nostalgia for it. It was slow and buggy and from what I remember I had a hard time signing into my Google Account on it. You can get a similar experience to what it would be like today by going to the YouTube website in your phone's web browser, because in reality that's all it really was, but instead of the video playing in-page, it played on the top screen on the 3DS.
3. I recognize that now, and I deeply regret what I said in the past. I was in a far different mindset in May of last year. I was far more hostile than I am now and I regret calling these people "not normal". I'm sorry.
4. That's an unfair comparison in that this thread is asking for the official YouTube app to be revived and the currently-usable YouTube client for the Wii is not a modification of the official one but rather is a custom client, a modification of WiiMC. Creating a custom YouTube client for the 3DS may be a viable idea and if anyone feels like tackling it, I wish them luck. However, making the official client work again like this thread asks for may be far more work than it seems, and has far more hurdles associated with it (copyright, code, etc.) than simply making a new client altogether.

(Edit) As it turns out, someone's already made a custom YouTube client, but only for the New 3DS/2DS variant, and as I guessed, it's because of the old 3DS's limited processing power. For the curious, it's called ThirdTube. If someone's interested in making a client for the old model, I wish you luck.

The app's data is way too outdated. Use a damned cellphone or something, seeing as most kids nowadays have at least one. It's going to be the only way.
Looooool, sorry toxic dude, people like me don't get phones or laptops, I only have a 3DS, cable, and a mini monitor-TV. I don't even get tech like that and I'm in Canada. This is a good and valid request for people like me, and I am wondering when someone will continue/develop/NOT abandon a 3DS HTML5 Browser.
