Hello everyone so I got my hands on a 3DS thats almost in a perfect condition, but it won't turn on. It makes a popping sounds when it turns off and The lower screen flashes. The top screen doesn't. Top Screen dead?

Is that with the sd card in or out? do you know if it was hacked? take a picture of sd content

yeah its either a loose ribbon cable or a torn ribbon cable, easiest way to check for sure if its just loose is to only open up the 3ds a small crack and turn it on, usually if its just loose it will power on normally but cut out as soon as you open it up further

When I slightly open it, it just stays like in sleep mode but it won't pop. When I open it and it tries to power on it pops. Is the 3Ds the same as other nintendo stuff that it only works if everything is connected and Working? And If I buy A new screen and L-R Ribbon cable it should work?

just open it up and reseat the top LCD/camera and speaker ribbon cables, once all those are in it should boot up fine even without the L&R buttons connected, if it comes on normally and stays on even when you open the screen fully then you know your ok to replace the top buttons

So you are telling me that the screen ain't broken? Or that it is a possibility that it is broken. Sunday I will have the time to test everything out I shall test the fuses. The water damage sticker is okay.

it will almost certainly be fine, 9/10 consoles that have this issue are usually just a loose ribbon cable, although the odd console does have a damaged cable, even then its usually just the speaker cable damaged and the LCD ribbon cable is ok, although swapping out cables through the hinge is not for the faint of heart and I think most people who don't have prior experience with these would probably end up damaging something in the process

Sorry for the double post so I went on to open the 3DS and I found that someone has already opened it and messed with it. F1 an F2 are fine. I see that someone might have changed the speaker ribbon cable since one of the speakers is badly soldered. The camera ribbon is a little beat up, Speakers ribbon is fine for what I see, and screen look fine too. So I'm lost on this one...

I resoldered the speakers and did a test hooking everything up without the housing and holding the battery in place and it turns on and holds the blue light no pluck no turning off. So new mystery there?

I hope you didn't pay for that 3DS..

Could it be that it's bricked? And the previous owner thought he'd fix it with a hardmod but failed which then resulted it being even worse off? Blue light staying on with a black screen would be an indicator of that. Either way IF it's bricked it's a paperweight without the nand backup.

No sing of hardmodding in spain it is not that common to hack 3DS consoles. Wierd by the way because spain is number 3 in europe in piracy... and no I didn't pay a cent.

I reconnected everything again and I tested it pluck is back flashing on the bottom screen is back too

If you have a popping sounds when you switch on the console this is due to the torn of the internal speaker ribbon.
You need to change it because this one supplies power to the upper screen.

You could find one from this link : http://www.infinitydream.com/dual-speaker-ribbon-3d-button-3ds-p-828.html

If you have another console at hand I would try swapping the motherboard over (or even just piggybacking the 2 systems to plug the ribbon cable off a known working console into the faulty one) just to make sure there isn't any other underlying issues, but if not, you could buy one of the cables, and test it before you go to all the efforts of installing it
