That is quite strange, It seems like the power save feature is staying on and not actually working at the correct battery levels, funny how it is only occurring in certain consoles though, you might be stuck with it like this until the next update comes out, you said nintendo know about this so hopefully should be patched by then, if not make them take it back and fix it, only thing you can do is make sure you have finished doing whatever you're doing on a game before closing it.

@Game2590 Yeah... I lost the receipt from the shop where I bought it, so I'm pretty much screwed on that side, I could try to go through Nintendo, but as I stated we don't have support from Nintendo here in Switzerland (no club, just a crappy lame company that doesn't give a s***, hence the 2-3 days of delay we had in regard of the whole world when the E-shop was released).

These last few days the problem is getting worse: it used to turn off once a day, sometimes it didn't for several days... now it's doing it 2-3 times a day! bouhouuuhouuuuu I'm crying like a baby.

BTW, to those asking why I would like to keep it on: since yesterday we have the new video player and I was pleasantly surprise to find two videos ready to play at the end of the day that was downloaded through spotpass while in sleepmode. This is nice and gives a real new pleasure to the device. If it turns off it ruins the whole idea.

Please share your experience, if not to find a solution then just to feel less alone

well that sucks, fingers crossed that patch iit.

Only other thing i can suggest is, with spotpass it usually downloads anything that has been released as soon as it connects, so maybe just try and switch it on for 10 mins twice a day (this is what i've been doing, i got the magic video in the morning and the other one in the evening) although this does eliminate the surprise of opening your 3ds and finding something new, Plus i use the usb wifi connector and it pops up saying a device is connected and this tells me it's downloading something new.

As for streetpass though it looks like that feature is no use until it's fixed, although if where you live is anything like where i do you won't ever find someone else using it.

weirder and weirder... spent 3-4 days with it switching off every 2 hours and now since 2 days no turning itself off anymore...

I fail to find a pattern!!

I wouldn't be surprised if something internal was damaged from being on all the time.

There are problems with the 3ds that Nintendo is not acknowledging. I HAD the Black Screen of Death problem where when let on hold, it simply went o black screen with error messege. This happened both in system menus and games. They repalced itafter not being able to reproduce the problem.

NOW whenever I put a DSi card in (Genuine) it freezes the system to where it can nto even recognize 3d games.

There ARE sme REAL problems wiht this concoles osftware and compatiility.

I just wonder if it pays to wait for it to be resolved? Mine has been at Nintendo for repairs more than at home for use. and I bought it DAY ONE. At what point does one ask for a refund and move on? And those people out there saying... "well it hasn't hapened to ME" ... just you wait, it aint over yet mr.

Because its happening all over not many people are complaining about it, from my research on this topic, these problems are far more widespread than most are aware of.

Last I checked I turn those off when I'm not using them, where in the manual does it say to leave your 3ds on 24/7.

Cellphones are special in a way that they only use about 2% of their battery life in standby mode, just enough for a signal.
Of course you stupid wise ass that the manual doesn't explicitly say "turn it on forever". But why would you have sleep mode if it is not for using it ?? When I needed to leave the house for 2 or 3 days, and knowing that they'll be no wifi where I go, I will let it in sleep mode to get my spotpass.

... Ok Brandon, you made your point, time to move on. Lets agree to disagree. It doesn't change anything to my concern, it just shouldn't turn off by itself.

When you treat your DS like a home computer, its no wonder why people have so many problems with their system.

Every thread I read in which Brandon appears, arguments occur!

Mine hasn't done this for about 3 weeks, I wonder what it is?
That's what happens when you don't sugercoat things and tell them how they are.
Also, what do you expect when people cant comprehend common sense when you try and help them?

I think there is a very marked difference between trying to help and repeatedly stating someone is wrong....
My opinion is that the 3DS is supposed to be left in sleep mode- I never leave it as long as the OP but we should be grateful that there are people out there pushing the boundaries of what this system is capable, when Spirit Tracks came out and wouldn't save I left my DSlite plugged in and on for a whole week until I had completed it and found out that that had literally murdered my battery life (I get 1.5 hours max since)- I wouldn't risk it with the 3DS!

Unlike many people on this forum, I also have the bizarre belief that the 3DS is portable and doesn't need packaging in bubblewrap and locked in a securicor case everytime it leaves the house. Madness!

lol funny thing is ive finished Zelda now and dont get the problem any more

i got this twice but since finishing Zelda and it tweaking the save to allow both games to be selected it hasnt turned off once

plus also i noticed i wasnt getting Samurai Chronicles DLC which i am now getting again lol

also my 3DS has only been off 3 times since launch
1 was a reset by my and 2 was this problem

better for the Ion Battery

Weirdly, since Masterquest unlocked mine has been fine as well! I didn't piece it together til I saw your post but the last time it happened was the day before I completed OoT.
Also my DOA spotpass content was all screwy while I was playing OoT, but has been every day since MQ....
OP, unlock Masterquest, problem solved

Sleep mode is fine for a couple of hours a day, but not 72-168 hours a week.

Brandon you are obviously an ass and I'm afraid I won't be able to help you, sorry if I didn't sugarcoat my statement.

For the rest: this happened before I got Ocarina of time... I had Lego starwars from launch and the problem already occurred at that time. I will finish the master quest these next days and give you a feedback of what happens then, but... since this doesn't seem to be related to the game on my device I'm afraid I'll want to cry. I'm surprised to discover that there is a lot of people with this glitch, but not much information nor messages on forums about it. These last days the randomness of the problem is gaining. It spent more than 24 hours on, switched off, I put it back on and then switched off after two hours, then stayed on for like 12 hours, then off again, and again, and again... Weird.

Quick update:

- changed my battery for one of those 5000Ma, works great but didn't change a thing regarding the turning off (I didn't really expect it to, just wanted more battery life and I'm very happy with the result!)

- I really thought the last update did something, it stayed on for almost three days... and turned off today (sob)

Still haven't finished the master quest of Oot

2nd Update:

so... finished the master quest, didn't have a switch off for almost 2 weeks, then it came just to make me sad: turned off two times in the last couple of days, no reason whatsoever. It's getting weirder and weirder, I just have no clue explaining the reason behind this behaviour. I'm starting to just accept it (even though I hate that, not understanding), everything else works fine so the only downfall is that I'll miss some streetpass mii, which isn't a great deal since almost nobody has this device anyway (15 hits in 5 months).

Cheers

Hello guys,

just an update on this ooold problem of mine (and a bunch of you guys it seems): since last update (3.0.0-5u) the problem has been resolved, I have had no more uncontrolled switching off of my handled. :)

Youpi

BTW this means that this was a real glitch in my system, no other updates resolved it, so nintendo has silently took care of this problem in this release without communicating about it at all. How many people were concerned will probably remain unowned, which honestly pisses me off.

The Nintendo I knew was much more respectful of its customers...

things change.
