I had this thought while I was at the gym a bit earlier today, and I felt like talking about it because of all the banwave nonsense.

How long do you guys think it will take before we start to see server emulators pop up for the 3ds? Something like Polaris was to the DS/Wii.

It will probably start sometime after the system stops getting support, then get a boost in popularity when there's an announcement that official online is ending, like with DS/Wii.

If you got money first, someone will know how to do it. It's how money works.
These things usually rely on community support.
Sure you can hire someone to do it, but where's the fun in that? Especially if you're found out and got shut down.

We have no idea how Nintendo's online servers work. I'm also pretty positive the servers are specific for each game. (AKA Pokémon servers are separate from MHGEN servers) Sure there's a master server that holds account information, but actual game servers that games like MHGEN connect to are most likely hosted by CAPCOM (or whatever company they paid to host it for them)

The Wii U/3DS servers might last a long long time, the Wii/DS servers were forced to shut down because IGN wanted to shut down Gamespy because... its IGN.
