Hacking 3ds security hint at CCC talk?

The PSP, Wii and other modern consoles make a firmware integrity check, too and it was hacked. I ask myself if there is no interest to hack the 3ds or is Nintendo very good in security. I mean the PS Vita was hacked a few days after release and the 3ds is out for more than 9 months now. What´s wrong?

The Vita isn't hacked yet. They only managed to use a PSP exploit. wihich is in sandbox mode, so they can only run SOME homebrew apps in psp mode.

Well let me put it this way then. We can use DS-mode on our 3DS's, it was figured out shortly after it was released so that's something, right? Better than nothing?

Well yeah it is, better have to that than no sort of hack at all no matter what it does.

because of a flaw in the encryption system skfu has manaed to decrypt some part of a few test files

well there is something to the lack of interest thing, i dont know why ,there was a lack of interest in the dsi too, but at least we had marcan looking at it, last i checked his twitter and bushings he said he had no interest in the 3ds,

Go THERE for hacking theories. This thread should be for discussing the CCC talk, not for discussing how to hack the 3DS.

What's going on here is the discussion of an aspect of the 3DS's firmware, not the hacking of it. We aren't trying to find a break in the system in this topic. An with all that said I just enjoy looking over these threads it is really fun.

@ Boudincaca That is interesting, I didn't actually know of that little fact which makes it all the more cool its busted into.

For the post above this one, vita is similar to the metroid thing. It will lead to nothing.

Does anyone know if homebrew on Vita can use the full power of the Vita or is the Vita throttled in the psp-mode?
I know that the 3DS is throttled in NDS-mode, so homebrew can not use the full 3DS-power.

ich würde sagen es nur psp power da es in einer sandbox ist, oder kannst du windows prog in einer vm mit linux spielen nur weil drumherum win ist ? (wine zählt dabei nicht)

I would say no or can you play windows games on linux if you have it running in a vm on win ?

Nevermind, kinda relevant. Basically he is saying it's sandboxed and is comparing this to Windows games on Linux. German is a little rusty heh...
