3DS May Updates -- Include eShop
3DS News!

According to Nintendo's Q3 financial results briefing many functions users expected to see pre-installed on the Japanese 3DS will not be available until May. The eShop will also be available in May, and will offer Virtual Console software, DSiWare releases, and 3DSWare.

Yeah that won't be a problem for me either. I am probably going to get Nintendogs + cats to hold me over till more interesting things happen. Like "The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time" and "Starfox 64 (working title)" lol

I am insterested in what else the May firmware update may bring....

So, May specifically for Japan or will this be a delay for all of them, I wonder...

originally they said not everything worked out of the box and would be added after release with an update, which was later changed to an update being released at the same time as the 3DS
would be a bit odd if they pulled the release for the update to an earlier date, only to push it back again.

another thing that seems to change back and forth: their source is the japanese nintendo site and there it also says that 3DSware games can be easily transferred to another 3DS(limited amount of transfers though) while it was mentioned before that 3DSware would be locked to the 3DS it was bought on.

Some stuff will be built in and some will have to come with the update. If you read Iwata Asks that tells you a lot of stuff too. So it sounds like right when you get your 3DS, you update it, then mess around.

Hmm. The website says the 3DS MAY need an update for the eShop to work and for the Internet browser it WILL need an update.
