We’ve already had the leak of shedloads of photos from the 3DS production line. In addition, some curious tea-leaf has broken one apart for our viewing pleasure;But the 3DS security fiasco doesn’t stop there. According to a rumour from Chinese site Gamrade, a team of hackers have already got ROMs to work on a stolen 3DS – the first step to producing pirated games.

I find it kinda hard to swallow, though seeming as the stolen 3DS has the SDK in it, it might be possible....right?....

Truth be told I'm not concerned about flashing my 3DS when I get it. I only flashed my current DS because I was unemployed and thus couldn't afford games. Now I can it's not a necessity any more.

I’d only give this particular rumour a 3/10 on the credibility scale, however. The original information comes from claims made on the site pspds.net, where, according to Gamrade, the hackers boasted that they’d got hold of a 3DS prototype and already revealed the secrets within. Since then, the site has been replaced with a “gotcha” zombie picture and a screeching sound. The whole thing could either be a practical joke, but there’s the possibility that group behind the hack are pulling the stunt on top of their real achievements.

Taken from your source. Guess it's not that probable that this particular rumor is true. But we'll see in the next few days, I guess.

speak on this topic is useless no one will know anything more for now! But if you want my opinion is that the rumor is fausse.La DSi is not even cracked while the 3ds is even more secure. Anyway, there will be a method to hack the future, perhaps be, perhaps it will be with a chip, we'll see. Remember the bare fingers, linker, vendors will make money. They'll work on it and get us out of the linkers. The pirate cruise should not stop there, it would be too sad!

What does flashing even do? I've heard of it but never looked into it.

apart from the fact that there are no pictures, videos or anything of the like, there is no proof that it IS fake, so we're still in the dark on this one. if we have a little faith, perhaps they will show us some proof. I HOPE it's true that would be so good.
