I have been bored recently with my n3DSxl, and even being hacked/homebrewed it's seen little use. So I have been wondering if there are many games for the system that have a high replay value, in the same sense that say... a Roguelite game does, where you pretty much never have the same experience twice due to (pseudo)random generation. I would even be open to suggestions of games on DS since I have an R4 3DS Gold Plus that I use for nds roms. Another thing I have had a difficult time finding, are 2D Metroidvania games. I've already got the 2 SteamWorld Dig titles - and I enjoyed those a lot, dumped many hours into those when I couldn't play on PC(being away from home). So if you have any of those to suggest, that would be super awesome. I am just surprised that a lot of the ones I see on PC didn't make it to 3DS(and probably never will now due to the Switch taking over things). Games like Momodora: RUtM, Dead Cells, Enter the Gungeon, Iconoclasts - I'd love to have games like those in my pocket.

Just as a final note, before you say anything about "doing searches"(because there's probably a million game suggestion threads), I did, and I found this thread here:
https://gbatemp.net/threads/3ds-games-with-high-replay-value.445156/
and took a look at the games mentioned there, none of them seemed to be what i was looking for. I don't enjoy Pokemon games, could never get into them as much as I have tried due to the pressure of friends. Rhythm games are only OK for a while until you master it and can pretty much get the highest score every time, at which point the game becomes a "meh" game and starts to collect dust. Puzzle games like Sudoku, and Picross, all the ones I have found are just simply "collections" with like, maybe 100 or so puzzles. They're just like a puzzle book you buy off a store shelf that you have to throw away when they are all done.

Do you not like RPG games at all? The 3DS has a lot of SMT, and FE games mentioned in the other thread. Those have a lot of replay value, especially with custom mods like the rebalancing patches, Same-Sex marriages for Awakening/Fates and/or Poly patches.

For FE, the GBA FEs (Blinding Blade, Blazing Sword, Sacred Stones) are also available as injects. On the n3DS, the SNES FE games can be played using emulation, including Thracia 776, which was recently fully translated.

A lot of other GBA games like Golden Sun/Lost Age/Golden Sun 2 are also available as injects or via the DS cart. So a n3DS can basically play all GBC/GBA/NES/SNES/SD/3DS titles.

If there are no titles in those consoles that you like playing a lot then it is some more fundamental issue at work, not an issue with the 3DS.

You can sell it and put the money towards something else, such as a switch or Xbox2 (or whatever they are calling it).

Anyhow, I recently got into Kirby, so I’m digging that series. Also, my kids seem to like Zelda. I think it’s ocarina of time.

I think it goes without saying, but I'll say it anyway, if you enjoy the Fire Emblem series on 3ds, you should check out the past Advance Wars on DS Dual Strike, and A.W. Days of RUin as well as the First one Advance Wars on GBA and the second one AW Blackhole, both available as injects as well, all pretty long playing games. Emphasis on Dual Strike in most peoples opinion.

EDIT: I second the Art Academy for 3ds if you even have ever wanted to try art... and follow up with maybe Colors 3d and possibly Inchworm Animations and Flip note for your own pleasure even though you can no longer post to the net.

PS The regular DS also had an Art Academy which had different content and was also good in its own right (2 downloadable versions; 1st & 2nd Semesters, probably same content as the full DS 1 cart)

The two games that come immediately to my mind in terms of games I've gotten the most replay value out of (I'm talking hundreds of hours) are MH3U and RE: Mercs.
