Here is a collection of 460 3DS Icons in SMDH ICN format and PNG format.

The 'Numbered+Named' set naming is named by the 'No-intro 3DS Dat'
e.g 0001 - Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon - Shadow Wars (Europe) (En,Fr,De,Es,It)

The 'Numbered Only' set naming is named just by the release number:
e.g 0001.png

SMDH (numbered+named) [v2]: http://www.mediafire.com/download/kizxbjb83otkxmm/
SMDH (only numbered) [v2]: http://www.mediafire.com/download/w1l9r9vt7i6neu9/

PNG (numbered+named) [v2]: http://www.mediafire.com/download/zbhsxmnzzacma95/
PNG (only numbered) [v2]: http://www.mediafire.com/download/axv5zywxy7l7k0b/

If anyone wants to use these for a dat file, on a website or as a sig/avatar, go ahead :)
Thanks to '3DSGuy' for the icon extraction method and the 3DS_IconDecrypter program and
'elisherer' for the 3DSExplorer program that I used to convert the SMDH format into PNG format.

edit: JPG preview of all icons (low quality): http://i.imgur.com/RD8qk1g.jpg

edit2: noticed some naming errors and data for 0021+0022 and 0377+0379 were swapped, fixed files [v2] uploaded...

edit3: another small error, PNG icon 0443 is the small 24x24 version, not the big 48x48 version,
but you can just copy 0193 and rename it to 0443 as the icon is exactly the same as 0193.
(I re-saved 0443 as PNG and the CRC32/MD5 and SHA-1 matches PNG icon 0193 so its the exact same file)

Wow, that is amazing. Dumping icons from 460 ROMs must have taken while. Now there is a I'll integrate these into the front page.

Didn't take too long at all, I think about 4 hours at most. I did it in batches of 20 using a heap of small microsd cards and my gateway 3DS card.

You only need to write the EXEFS partition to the microsd card to get it to show on the 3ds menu so it caches the icon,
of course starting the game wouldn't work but you don't need to start the game, you only need to get the icon to display.
so I took a huge shortcut and trimmed each rom to 16 megabytes to save time when writing them to the microsd cards.
There were a few roms that didn't work with this method so I had to write the full rom to the microsd card instead.

The annoying part was removing the gateway flashcart from the 3DS, swapping the old microsd with another one
and re-inserting the gateway flashcart back into the 3DS to cache the next icon (and then repeating this 20 times)

At least now we have a base to work off, adding new releases will be easy. I just hope gateway will implement a crypto server into the GW launcher which will allow us to decrypt/encrypt 3DS data like ROMs and Saves using our 3DS'. As proud as I am of myself for figuring out a way to get icons, I would ditch this method, for ROM decryption in a heart beat.

Thanks for the updates, I was going to update the icons every 20 releases (as I have xorpads for 20 slots) but seems you are doing it.
also I messed up when saving the png icon for 0443 (Spiderman), and accidently saved the small 24x24 version not the large 48x48 version.

If you want I could add you to the management list for the first post, and you could update it every 20 scene releases?

PNG icons can be extracted from SMDH form using icn_extractor (a command line tool), which can be used on Windows, Mac OS X and Linux. The entire process is now no longer dependent on running 3DSExplorer.

neat, now I can get the PNG icons from multiple SMDH .icn files in a double-click by using this batch command:
Code:
for %%a in (*.icn) do icn_extractor.exe "%%a"

and here are SMDH and PNG icons for scene roms.

Mediafire Folder: https://www.mediafire.com/folder/53l6a4lw733oy/3DS_SMDH_Icons

edit: added 0482 to 0486
edit2: added 0487 (Zelda - Link between worlds)
edit3:
added icons for 0488+0489, made a pack for '0001 to 0489'
replaced mediafire file links with a download folder, removed old files.
(note: games are numbered according to the 'No-Intro 3DS DAT')

These are pretty cool!

I find it weird that they arent animated though.

The DSi 4 swords games is animated and really stands out in my playtime log!

Also other than the icons my favorite thing when getting a new game and putting it in for the first time is the little rotating menu icon!

Wish we could rip those!

its okay i know since they were taken from ninty website.
i just uploaded them to serve as reference for rom utility, website illustrations or what not.

little correction though, they are cropped yes,but they will not differ from originals (that if you meant different icons)

Unless the japanese icon for NSMB2 is different from USA/EUR icon, then some of them may differ. As the NSMB2 icon from nintendo's website has a different design.
