Another 3D Classic on the way?

Masahiro Sakurai's long-awaited Kid Icarus: Uprising is coming to 3DS around Christmas this year, and impatient gamers are looking towards Pit's previous outings to plug the gap. Wii owners can already play Kid Icarus on Virtual Console, but will 3DS owners get a downloadable slice of Pit too?

A recent IGN interview with Masahiro Sakurai pitched readers' questions to the producer, with one user asking if the original NES version would be included in the 3DS cartridge, receiving a "no comment" from Sakurai. How about a 3D Classics version, though? Sakurai says:

As far as it appearing on the Virtual Console, it's very possible and I've been in some talks regarding that recently.

Of course the original Kid Icarus was never released on a handheld format, but Kid Icarus: Of Myths and Monsters launched in the early 1990s and would be a pretty safe bet for a Virtual Console release on 3DS.

edit:dam i spell the title wrong

Titles a bit silly and misleading.

I miss the Nintendo of yesteryear that would actually include the classics in the new games so you can unlock it.

Please follow proper formatting and actually source stuff.

I didn't find either Kid Icarus games to be interesting and I feel people just started loving them because they saw Kid Icarus in Brawl and were like "OMG HE'S A NINTENDO CHARACTER LEMME PLAY HIS GAME AND GO ON ABOUT HOW GOOD IT IS." I played both of them and they were really boring.

I agree with you completely. I played Kid Icarus on NES and completed it, but its a game that was OK at best. It's nothing I would want to play again anytime soon. The new Kid Icarus game looks really good compared to previous games in the series, so I will at least give it a try.

The first two Kid Icarus games were pretty... well, lame. Thankfully the new one is entirely different. Looks tons more fun too just based on the trailers, and hopefully it won't disappoint.

I have to agree with Guild. Kid Icarus on the NES is monotonous by today's standards.

I'd rather just have Uprising then a classic remake.

It's not a game of today is it? I also didn't realize who pit was until Brawl. Even then, his character is awesome. Dual swords from a magical light bow. Damn, I want one of those. Since then, I read up on him. I'm quite excited for uprising, but I never could get into his previous games.

I actually never played Kid Icarus that much, since I did not WANT to play it. But Kid Icarus Uprising an on the rail shooter(just saying) interests me very much!

Only played a little bit of the first one. It was pretty challenging, and I think I made it like half-way out of the Underworld, and stopped there. I might try this out if it's not expensive, but ehh...
