Hi there,

So I am pretty new to 3ds hacking but have plenty of experience with other consoles (ps3, wii u, wii etc.).

So my questions is, I have a New 3DS XL that is on 11.4.0 and has four swords on it.

I was planning to buy a 2ds (the old type and not the new 2ds xl) of ebay that is on firmware 11.3.0 or lower.

So my question is, following the guide 3ds.guide. Am I correct in thinking that I can buy the 2ds. Hack it by buying one of the eshop games that have the exploit. (I am guessing I can't just log in to the eshop and re download fours swords anniversary? I own this legally on the new 3ds xl mentioned. And a system transfer just to get it sounds long so I would rather just bite the bullet and buy one the exploitable games still on sale).

Then after hacking the 2ds I can use it to hack my new 3ds xl?

So I would like to know is:

1. Is What I outline possible? And am I not missing something obvious?
2. Will I lose anything on my New 3ds xl? I have a bunch of eshop stuff I bought as well as my 3ds ambassador certificate I transferred from my original 3ds (which I sold) back in the day. Ideally I would have my 3ds xl running cfw and with all my eshop stuff installed. I was planning to give the then spare 2ds to my sister.
3. Is buying a skydock the best way to get the save files from my original games? Can I then transfer these to .cia 3ds games I will install? Or does it count as a different game as it is not a cartridge copy? I basically want to have all my 3ds games on the system rather than cartridges, with my save files and also have access to homebrew. (Emulators!!!).

Thank you very much and sorry if I am asking the obvious. Just want to be sure before I take the plunge. I was originally going to buy a SkyPlus cartridge then thought, hang on.... a 2ds is cheaper.... it means I get two hacked consoles.... and everyone says cfw is way better anyways?

EDIT: Just realised I put this in the wrong thread! Sorry! If an Admin could please move it It would be greatly appreciated! All the best.

Dont know how it is with removing accounts from 3dses, but it is surely possible (for you to be able to redownload game on 2ds, you first have ro deactivate account in new 3ds xl).
If the 2ds is on 11.3, you can use sondhax. Then via DSiware hack the 11.4/5 3ds

1. Yes
2. You can redownload it any time (legaly or from freeshop/internet)
3. Best way is JK save manager.

Hi there, Thank you so much for the reply.

My last questions are Can I even use the eshop on the 2ds if it is on 11.3? Will it not force me to update to the latest firmware before using the eshop?

And can JK Save manager extract my save data from a cartridge game and then use it with an installed .cia game? (So say with Pokemon Sun. Can I put my catridge in, use the manager to get the save, install Sun as a .cia to the system nand then use the save file I got from the cartridge?)

Thanks again, I really appreciate it. :-)

Once you have your CFW setup, you should just update to 11.5. 11.5 didn't break anything, nor did it really do anything new.
Although if you really want to stay on 11.3, IIRC Luma3DS blocks the forced updates. Or you could use this https://github.com/yellows8/ctr-httpwn

I actually meant If I am able to get the eshop title required for the hack from the eshop while I am still on 11.3?

I don't know (never used Eshop) but you should update to 11.5. as @Lilith Valentine said, it didn't broke anything

But surely I need to get the eshop game and do the hack while I am still on 11.3? I am buying a second hand 2ds that will be on stock firmware but on 11.3.

So I will then need to get the eshop game, do the hack, update to 11.5, then use it to hack my new 3ds xl?

So can I access the eshop while on 11.3? Otherwise how can I get the eshop game without updating?

Thanks,

EDIT: I am being stupid, You dont need the eshop game for the 11.3 hack haha. Sorry and thanks!

If you are doing a DSiWare Transfer hack, then you need to hack your 2DS first, then update your 2DS.
Once it hacked and updated, then you buy your game and install the exploit for the transfer.

Okay thank you everyone!

I really appreciate all the advice and support. I think I understand the whole process now.

Yeah I just realised that aha, I was just being stupid. I thought I needed the game beforehand. Got the 11.3 and 11.5 hacks muddled in my hand. Thank you very much.

If you need anymore help, don't hesitate to ask!
Happy hacking!

I think I can help with this! I've had some experience transferring accounts remotely without system transfer. If you have a NNID on your old console, you can leave that there. I called Nintendo up and told them that my friend drop kicked my 3ds and that I wanted my eshop games on my new console. They asked me questions about my account info and what games I bought to verify it was me and I could add my nnid and download all old games on my newer 3ds.

As for hacking it, don't even bother using dsiware hacks. Go to 3ds.guide and do the stock to bs9 tutorial. Should take around 30 minutes and it won't restrict any functions on your 3ds. You can update after that, use the eshop as normal and do what ever you want!

In short, just call Nintendo and say your 3ds is broken and they'll unlink your nnid and you're good to go!

I am actually still a little confused. So I hacked my 2ds via soundhax then updated to the latest firmware. Everything is good on that end. So now I am ready to use it to hack my New 3DS XL that is on stock on the latest firmware.

The thing is I do not want to lose my NNID. So if I do the system transfer and get the new 3ds xl hacked. Surely my NNID is gone forever and I will be stuck with the 2ds NNID that is overwritten to the 3ds xl in the hack process?.

How do I go about this? Or do I have to accept that my NNID will be gone.

Thanks :)

EDIT: So just to reiterate. Unlike most people, my NNID is on my Target 3ds. I bought the 2ds for the sole purpose of hacking it, then using it to hack my 3ds xl via the dsiware guide.
