As the title says, I was following the softmod guide and started updating to 6.60 so I could downgrade to 6.20. I ran the signed tool to check the motherboard version, and it was 03g. And now it's fully bricked, haha.

I'm going to return it and grab another one, which is why I'm asking... what in the world could've caused this? Thanks for the help!

It said 6.38. It MAY have been a CFW and I didn't notice, but I doubt it.

EDIT: Okay, I really doubt it was a CFW. I had ISOs on the same SD Card I had the updater on, so I would've seen them. Maybe next time I should use a completely clean SD card?

Yeah if it was 6.35 or 6.39 I might have said that it contained a light firmware that wasn't activated. But with 6.38 I really doubt it so either you used an ofw updater that was messed with or you were just unlucky

Aw man, are you sure? I researched pretty well, and everywhere I found said that 3000s were unbrickable unless you sent 'em to Sony, since Pandora Batteries won't power them at all. I already took it back and got a black one that had 6.20 on it and was thus very easy to hack, but if that's true. I wish I'd known that. That first one was platinum, and I really liked it.

This is actually the second time I've heard of OFW 6.60 bricking a system. Someone on the GameFAQs PSP system board also had their system brick, though they tried updating from some old version of OFW, I think 2. something. They had it quit at around 70%, and got a brick. Same problem?

(Read this good) A Pandora battery can be use use on a PSP 3000 ONLY with a special Memory stick (Kind of board) But the software at the moment is only for the PSP 2000 TA-88v3. Maybe in the Future you can use this.

Topic title - "3000 bricked while updating OFFICIAL 6.60!, Plugged in, 100% battery... what went wrong!?"

No 3000 can use a Pandora.

The whole reason they created the 3000 was to combat Pandora wasn't it? Sucks to be you though. Sony's OFW semi-bricked my PS3 late last year. After a few hours I got it worked and switched to CFW for good lol
