Hacking 2DS Hackable?

No...The release of the 2DS was in no way shape or form to counter the Gateway 3DS. You think console revisions happen in a couple days or weeks? Try months to years. Second of all, this isn't a "new" console at all. It's literally a 3DS with no 3D and no hinge. The end. Why the hell would they release a new console to counter gateway... to 4-7 year olds (thats who the target consumer of the 2DS is). They don't even know gateway exist. It won't block the DSTwo because nothing has changed. The only difference is what the firmware will be shipped with (5.1 or higher) which DSTwo is already compatible with. You'll know when Nintendo responds to Gateway and other future carts, because it damn sure isnt the 2DS.

They don't know about it? I thought they knew about these things the day they came out.

Dude it's not even out yet. Everything at this point is speculation and educated guesses. I see people ask some dumb questions on here, but seriously?

I would think it would have a newer firmware version given it has some confirmed differences such as switching wifi on/off via menu.

I think, the firmware will be identical to the 3DS, because the only differences are the absence of the 3D slider and a separate sleep-mode switch to simulate the collapsing? Otherwise they cannot quarantee the compatibility to 3DS games including updates. Also the release numbering will be equal.

I assume it will comes with just a different startup animation, but this is only possible if it is located in a bootloader which stays untouched during an update. Otherwise it is also thinkable, that N creates a new release 6.3 or 7.0 to support both 2DS and 3DS in one firmware containing both animations. Perhaps that was already been done on 6.2.0 without telling anybody to keep the secret of the upcoming 2DS

I'm pretty sure the 2DS went into production after 4.5, so they will have anything above it.

This question is not for "opinions", opinions don't make consoles "hackable" -- it's a horribly stupid question that only calls for speculation, and of course Gateway won't work on this, it's bound to have 5.X+ firmware on it -- it'll still require a whole new kernel exploit, just as current consoles on 5.0-6.1 do.

You didn't ask for opinion. "does anyone know if gateway will work"... that asks for fact. If you said "do you think the gateway will work" then that'd be a different story. You asked if anyone knows. I told you the truth: no one knows.

I love Raichu which is why i'm using arc to get him early in Pokemon Y

If I were to buy a 2DS it would most likely stay in its box until someone post a guide for making the 2DS clamshell like the 3DS.

I don't think it's wise if you already have a 3DS, I mean did you see the design?! That's the one thing about it that disappoints me.

Its a really smart design... Look at it it cant close so theres no risk when child play with it that the display will broke(yep the 2DS is aimed -6yrs)

Good point, and btw, that minecraft wii project is a good idea, although I don't play minecraft, I still think it's a good idea.

I don;t mind it really. I carry my DSes in my backpack anyways, not my pockets. It looks comfy to hold, since I have large hands.
