    I've had the same r4i gold 'RTS' cart for about 6 years. I've been using the hotkey combo for save states and I've even re-flashed it to use as NTR cart. Never had any problems with it. YMMV since there's hundreds of clones, clones of clones, and clones of clones of clones.

    It sounds like you have an intermittent power issue which may be due to bad traces from the clock capacitor leaking. Idk if you removed that or not.
