Gaming Persona 5 is a lot better than I expected.

I always had mixed feelings about the Persona games even though I ultimately liked them a lot. There were things about 3 and 4 (mostly 3) that were REALLY bad, but the good was so good that I was able to put up with it. Random, repetitive dungeons, generic palette-swapped enemies, daily routine...

Gaming Japanese games with kana only/furigana options?

I believe the Dragon Quest games all have furigana over the kanji, since it's popular among young children as well. That'd give you a reason to pick up 7, or the newly released 8. Unfortunately, I think of others at the moment.

Gaming Dai Gyakuten Saiban is a little infuriating

As a fan of this series, having played all the games (many of them in both English and Japanese), I was quick to get this game when it came out. I was excited at first, but it became harder and harder to play as I progressed. The first chapter gave me high hopes. Everything was as it should be...

ROM Hack [REQUEST] Someone interested in making a Translation of "Daigyakuten Saiban"?

I don't know if this thread is dead or going anywhere or what, but I am fluent in Japan and I have played through the game, so I would be willing to help with translations.

Gaming Holy Crap what is wrong with the DQIX localization?

Since its initial release on the NES, I’ve been playing Dragon Quest. I played through nearly all of them in English. I played part 7 in Japanese on the 3DS, and I’ve also spent hours watching my wife play through various games, which she does in Japanese. I was fine with the old English...

Gaming Dragon Quest VII - Okay remake

I considered writing this months ago when I finished the game, but never got around to it. For anyone who's curious to hear some firsthand experience about the 3DS version of this game (if and when the remake will be released in English), I'll try to explain the big differences as best I can...

Gaming Professor Layton vs. Ace Attorney finished - a review

You got the right idea. It's pretty much along those lines, and just as forced and bad as you could probably imagine. It's all just very anti-climactic. Maybe it's more standard fair for Layton, but a bad story is still a bad story. Also, aside from the ghosts and whatnot, Phoenix Wright has...

Gaming Professor Layton vs. Ace Attorney finished - a review

Nah, I like them both, but when they're both together, it felt like Layton was running the show and Phoenix was just kinda there. Phoenix's only real use was to stall for time in court waiting for Layton to come and save the day. He really had no shining moments in the game. It wasn't the plot...

Gaming Professor Layton vs. Ace Attorney finished - a review

I was going to post this in the review section, but it seems I don't have the privileges to do that. Anyway, yeah. I finally finished this game, and if I had to sum it up in one sentence, it would be: "It was pretty fun, but WTF?" What started to be a crazy and potentially fun, camp-filled...

Gaming Professor Layton vs. Ace Attorney / Gyakuten Saiban

OK, here's what I got. After getting quite into the game, I found that it gets deeper and deeper. Here's the basic idea: The game takes place in a medieval world (inside a book. This is all introduction story so no spoilers) where magic exists, and the inhabitants are scared, gullible people. As...

Gaming Professor Layton vs. Ace Attorney / Gyakuten Saiban

I got this game on release day. It was available on the eshop for download, so I did just that (it took a few hours and I had to delete a bunch of stuff off my SD card to make room, but I did it). Anyway, I figure at least some people are interested in this, I might as well say something about...

    Hacking Just curious

The Japanese eshop is offering full 3DS games for download now (Mario Kart 7, Mario 3D, and the upcoming Gyakuten Saiban/Professor Layton are among them). I haven't actually downloaded any, but I'm very curious to see how it works (how much space it would take up on the SD card, etc...) I was...

    Gaming Kingdom Hearts 3D: I can't

The silly banter in Japanese is very very good. The way it was done in English (from what I've heard from videos and whatnot) just doesn't seem to work for me. A lot of jokes were changed (some for good reason because of cultural differences, and some for no reason I could see), and I also...

    Gaming Kingdom Hearts 3D: I can't

I'm talking about language differences in games. It's a bigger thing than a lot of people (at least those who have replied to this thread) know. There are many people who are adamant to have certain things a certain way. A Japanese game getting released in the US is a good thing, but sometimes...

    Gaming Kingdom Hearts 3D: I can't

So, Kingdom Hearts 3D came out last week in Japan, and it's been getting huge reception here. I haven't played much KH, but I always planned to. Anyway, I took a look at this game and thought "yay! I can get this game early!" But no... Normally I'm fine with the Japanese versions and prefer them...

    Gaming Theatrhythm Final Fantasy Preview

you all can check my review in the review section. I got the game in Japan the day it came out, and through all the time I've played it (and I've played it alot), I can tell you all that it's a lot of fun if you like rhythm games and FF, but there are a lot of disappointing things about it. The...

Review Actual Review of Theatrhythm Final Fantasy

Introduction: I posted some thoughts on this game a while ago, but I didn't really know enough to give an actual review. After playing through this game much more, I now have enough info to give a more comprehensive review, so here it is for all those people who are interested. Gameplay: At...

Gaming If you could choose any game to port/remake/continue on the 3DS...

Hows about an actual Phantasy Star RPG instead of a crappy monotonous dungeon crawler? Seriously, I don't know why they decided to shift the series in that direction, or why they haven't ever went back (except for a couple underwhelming remakes on the PS2). Also, I think the original Grandia...

Gaming Accessing eshops from other countries

cool, thanks. I figured. Just wanted to make sure, cuz it would suck if I move to another country and suddenly can't access any online stuff.
