    It's probably attempting an even crazier resolution that your TV doesn't like. Through composite cables it's forced to 480I, but with component there's no strict restriction on what may be sent out.

    Your TV cant handle the resolution, the PS2 tries to output PSX games in 240P when running on component cables, composite or Svideo will force it into 480I mode.

    Nothing at all has worked except for retail games. I didn't do much testing with it, it's easier to just use 1.70 because everything works fine with it.

    I think it's just the original developer, I can't see the source anywhere, a port's pretty unlikly unless the developer decides he wants to finish it all on his own.

    There's a higher chance it'll fail quickly. Sometimes they're slower than the real thing too. Fake or real memory sticks would have very similar amounts of space, that's not at all a way to tell. If you want legitimate hardware go through reputable dealers like ZipZoomFly or NewEgg.

    I just got a 200 pack for around 65$ shipped with 200 free paper sleeves from http://www.supermediastore.com/. I didn't know it was a spectacular price, normally I'm paying like 40$ for 200 of any other brand DVDs. I guess technically it's a 25$ premium, but there's 200 free sleeves included.

    I've always used Taiyo Yuden, the price premium is like 20$ for 200 discs, but they're the best and absolutly worth it. I've used Verbs and TDKs, but nothing puts out as reliable of discs as TY, as emperically tested using PI tests. I always use -Rs because it's what the PS2 can read. Stay away...

    Once you've ripped the points off don't bother trying to repair them with a conductive pen, they're never going to work well. (As you've experianced with the high resistance) Solder directly onto the legs of the chip instead and all will be well.

    The benfit you get is not needing to buy a 2$ PIC. I don't like it though because I don't want to have to deal with a computer to play with a Wii. The soldering's really easy, one of the easiest mod chips to install. I figure pretty much everyone has a PS2, it's much easier than that mod.
