Regarding a Switch, it would be like a tablet with side buttons, or not? I already have a Samsung tablet...

With the 3ds as he said you will only get good snes with the new 3ds/2ds - the old can't run them barely at all. And N64 is out of the question

Other things with the switch is you have to buy a very early model to hack it, so that would be a pain also. That said it's a great emulation machine

Well, if so I will avoid buying an o3ds, thus saving money. Thank you both.

N64 is not gonna work on old model (too weak). I've never even tried DaedalusX64.
2|3DS, especially new type, make a great machine for older Nintendo games: (S)NES, GB(C) and GBA (not emulated). Old type consoles struggle with SNES games using powerful enhancement chips (Super-FX, SA1).
Reducing 3DS to SNES emulation is a waste in my opinion – it can do more emulation and you should buy 3DS games as well.

There really aren’t any useless files in 3ds.hacks.guide

The Guide might look overwhelming and long – that is because it is very beginner friendly and detailed; step-by-step. Once you have CFW (don’t skip the NAND backup or you might summon the wrath of GBAtemp’s backup reminder), get SNES9x and you can enjoy pretty much all games without Super-FX/SA1

Get an old Android tablet. I could (my tablet recently died) it could emulate N64 and even DS games.
It had Android 5.0 and 400mb of RAM with 5GB of storage.

Even broken tablets can be controlled with USB Controllers but of course touch will be out of question.

In my opinion a Tablet would be a better investment. No need for hacking, you just look for the appropriate APK emulators.

If you had read what I wrote above you would know that I already have a Samsung tablet.😉

Yes, I read that. I believe Samsung doesn't support Android apps, no?
It could be a problem... I'm not familiar with Samsung OS.

The operating system of a Samsung is Android: I don't think it supports other OSes. :)
Anyway, while the emulation of SNES and n64 is excellent there, nothing surpasses the almost orgasmic feeling of playing on DS consoles.🤣

I'm not receiving notifications on your posts.

Why not buy one of those portable consoles with Android then?
I believe there are some that totally resembles NDS and GBA SP handhelds.

Instead, I get notifications regularly. Those are generally cheap chinese clones. The ones that aren't, are overpriced. I think I will wait until I find a used new 3ds at a good price.

I don't really have much to add to what others have said already:
- blargSNES runs SNES games mostly well, but sometimes it can stutter in some more intensive scenes
- Nintendo 64 is out of the question, even the direct port of Super Mario 64 to the 3DS can lag sometimes, and the port that I have is actually optimized somewhat
- old3DS is impossible to repair due to THREE very short ribbons going to the top screen

Sadly I have to say that I'll have to agree with the others, and use the Samsung tablet instead.

Check if it has USB OTG support, as that decides whether you can plug in an USB controller, or if you're limited to Bluetooth/touchscreen.

Don't have high hopes of Nintendo 64 though, as even high-end PCs still struggle to run them to this very day. Or at least mine does struggle :')

Thank you. I already have a bluetooth joypad for that tablet, and with Mupen64+ FZ all the n64 roms work (alternating graphic plugins). But I repeat that I would still like to get a used n3ds if I find a good opportunity.😉

What is it with the Android tablet? A device without any buttons requiring external controllers or whatever is no match for proper handheld console. 3DS is a good emulation machine for old, 2D games.
The hinge doesn't break on 3DS – the cables inside tear. The repair is just::hateit:

I own this one (broken)

Before it broke I could play N64 games just fine, DS games and RetroArch Arcade Cores.

If you still want a 3DS, get a 2DS (no hinge, no suffering) and a TTDS and use Apache's Thunder loader to load the card and add DS roms on it.

I'm unaware if the FreeShop or CIAngel/FBI are still relevant, but I'm sure you can find cias somewhere in the Internet.

A 2DS is totally worth it just for it's own library alongside DS games library.

But then again, I'd prefer an Android tablet over consoles. It's just me ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

TWL++ will suffice for loading DS games. No need for a very old flashcart. NUS downloaders (Freeshop) don't work since 2018.
2DS models have lower build quality than 3DS models. N2DSXL is a nightmare to repair and the doorstop O2DS is less modular than 3DS. Shoulder buttons are prone to fail – require good soldering skills.

The wobbly tablet assembly? No, thanks, I'll pass🤦‍♀️
