I had extremely low expectations for this 'final' film in this particular trilogy - I found the 2018 movie dumb and annoying, and Halloween Kills was worse. Due to the previous entries lowering my expectations (and despite the masses of bad reviews), I actually found Halloween Ends to be my favourite of the three. Don't get me wrong, it's still rather bad, but at least it brought something new to the party.
Retconning everything post the '78 original was a bad idea. Doing so technically removes Michaels unkillable boogeyman characteristic, and just makes him a child who murdered his sister, escaped a decade or two later and murdered a very small handful of teenagers... certainly not anything that a whole town would still be defined by 4 decades later.

Jeez, this movie was a mess.
They should have called this "Halloween: Corey's Story" and change the cover to include him rather than Michael.
And the end.. It was let's say, anticlimactic.
One of the worst Halloween movies and the worst of this new trilogy.

Though I thought it was better than the previous one (a low bar), the plot, and a recycled trope, left me trying to justify it just to keep watching.
