They could add something useful instead of these ROM fixes. I mean, how many people play Miami Nights?! And why do people care about Puppy Palace? Something like a password protection feature, a better interface on the Games browser or something that improves it at a larger scale would be a lot better. I guess they gave up because R4s sell like hot cakes. Once the sales drop, they'll probably do something.

I don't actually care about either of those games myself, it's just the principle of the thing. You know, 100% compatibility? As of now, Poopy Palace is the only non-working game on the R4. They should have at least fixed both non-working games in the update. I'm sure it was just an oversight on their part.

I've long since forgotten about them adding any more features. I believe many of the features of the other cards aren't possible on the R4 because it doesn't have any onboard flashable memory. When you think about it, it's pretty damn amazing what they have done with it thus far with just a software loader.

One thing no one can argue with about the R4 though, it does what it can do very well. I have never been happier with anything I've bought for my DS than the R4. It may not be the best cart out there anymore, but it still does what it was designed to do and the R4 Team still supports it. That's good enough for me.

I don't even use the features available now other than the "Run NDS file" feature, so I'm perfectly happy with ROM updates ahead of useless features I'm never going to use anyway. If I want more capacity I could buy a 2gb TF card

FIFA 08 (EU) also doesn't work.

And those expecting SDHC support, it won't happen.

If you already have an R4, it's a great flashcart for games. The menu system is good. It will do everything you want if you don't care much about watching movies, playing music, or using the features of newer carts. It still plays current games as well as it ever did. For almost anything other than games however, it's obsolete. Your music and videos will quickly take over the card, forcing you to delete anything not essential. The R4 was a good cart for it's time.
Couldn't agree more. If you have one, and it works, no point in replacing it if you're content with just basic gameplay and nothing else; but I have to say its pretty low on the list of MicroSD-based flashcarts I recommend to new buyers (Something like SCDS1/CycloDS -> EDGE -> DSTT -> R4).

The R4 does what it advertised. To complain about it missing features is ridiculous - they weren't there when you bought it and they never officially promised to have higher-end features at anytime. With a good balance between compatibility and interface, it's still one of the best low-cost cards out there.

I say we start a nice class action lawsuit with these hoodlums. It is horrendous that there is a good (approximately) 0.09847% of games in the world that we must be able to play! I mean, we all spent good money on these games, and we deserve the right to run backups of our purchases legally! Let's see, $35 for the R4, plus $30 for Puppy Palace, plus oh, about $55 billion for hardship/punitive damages. We'll be rich!

The R4 has served me well, but if it ever popped its cookies on me, I'd probably buy a CycloDS to replace it. I'd definitely get an SDHC cart next. Not for the slo-mo or RTS or any of the other features it may have over an R4, just the extra space capability.

Hmm....didn't know about that FIFA 08 (EU) game not working.....damn that R4 Team is slacking! j/k

Honestly, not to diss out the video player homebrew makers, but who really watches movies on there ds? The screen is so tiny it's pointless.

I say get an R4 and don't waste your money on any other cart as I know cos I own a CycloDs SDHC, DSTT, (omgoodness what a shitty card.

) and I believe the R4 still conquers these cards by performance and compatibility. Yes, I know these cards have SDHC feature but really who needs all that space.. i found it pointless, unless you planning to watch movies with your biphocles on.
And to store your music get an ipod or some mp3 player, honeslty the sound on the ds isn't that great, so theres another point.

I know the R4 is hard to get now a days, but if you find one, get one. Don't bother with any other card, but if you were going to ask me which would come 2nd, I'd say the Cyclods, but still I prefer the R4 as number 1.

Peace! c, ''

Believe whatever you want, but thats a completely incorrect statement. Performance-wise, the R4 is one of the slower loading carts, and compatibility is almost a non-issue with all the carts having 99.9X% success rate.

Even when SCDS has real time save, I still think R4 is better (non-SDHC version of SCDS that is, the SDHC version is better)
SCDS still has issues with trimmed roms.

Yeah...you keep telling yourself that.

Anyways, it is nice to see the R4 still getting updated. But the R4 Team(or whoever is updating the cart) really needs to step up and give it the features that will get the cart back on par with the top flashcarts again.

They can't add anymore features because it's already HARDWARE LIMITED. ATF01 is a read-only (e.g. NON-flashable) IC, meaning that the only way to actually give the cart HC compatiblity is to replace the chip itself, which is not worth the effort if you're not good with a solder.
