Hello There,
I have a question, how I can use the infrared interface on Rom-sided games? I will use the Key System on B2W2, to make a challenge Mode on B2. I will send the Challange Key from a Cartridge, to the Rom-sided game, but those 2 consoles are searching each other and are no founding. I hope, any one can help me.

thank you for help, and greatings from the little land, with two coast

The infrared actually comes from the cartridge, the IR-module is intergrated into the actual Pokémon games. Use anything else instead of the official Pokémon-cartridge (like a flashcart) and you immediately lose any IR.
looks like you did the explaining for me, thanks!

as @Quincy was saying, yes, the IR is in the cartridge itself, try opening it up, and you'll see the IR module used

I can't remember where I read this, but you should be able to use the IR function of any DS game cartridge through TWiLightMenu running a rom; so if the game you're looking for is hard to find, maybe you can find another DS game that offers IR and use that cartridge instead. There were probably not many, but it's always better to have options.

I have tested this with the cartridge of Pokemon Heartgold in the cartridge slot of the N3DS, and I used TWiLightMenu to play Soulsilver : I was able to use IR to interact with the Pokewalker.
