So by installing the forwarder, I could access this from the home screen similar to HBMenu? And have the apps I use most where I can get to them first? I'm ok with the default menu but do wish I could re-arrange the NROs with most used at the beginning. Can this do that? And is it a high ban risk? Installing NSPs is listed as a potential risk.

You could also replace the eshop, or album with the nsp

Hello, again, it's been a few! Slogged through a couple pretty terrible weeks there, but I think it's time to get some projects moving again.

v0.95 seems to crash when launching on sxos. It will scan all the way through and at 100% it will crash the OS and force SXOS to reboot. Does anyone know how to fix this? I'd love to try this out.
Sorry, I don't use sx. Are you launching through applet mode or a full channel experience?

It would also be nice to be able to create custom categories, so like local apps, app store apps, games, utilities,...
I agree completely! It's in the plans.

Thank you very much. The kind words and encouragement of the community really mean a lot to me. I'm glad I can provide something that you find useful! I think it's always great to have options.

Could you add a 3d or 2d coverflow system to this?

That would be pretty sweet. I'd definitely like to incorporate more view types.

Yes, indeed.
And have the apps I use most where I can get to them first?
You bet.
is it a high ban risk? Installing NSPs is listed as a potential risk.

Yeah, I personally would not encourage installing/running this (or any homebrew) on any OS that has the potential to be banned. I exclusively use it on my safe emunand. As for running it in applet mode, technically, yes? It does run, but I think it may run out of memory with humungous scans and crash. That's something I'll polish and optimize sometime soon.

You could also replace the eshop, or album with the nsp

That's a possibility. Is there a tutorial someplace? I'm the type who likes step by step instructions so I don't break anything. And can it run in applet mode?

I haven't tried creating a new override shortcut to it but I think it's possible. I'm pretty sure /atmosphere/loader.ini has the settings for that but I can't tell you exactly what to do. You could also just delete hbmenu.nro and replace it with the renamed nro of this if you're feeling brave. ;)

Edit: Just for fun, how about a little preview of something I'm cooking up? :)

Hey, everyone! Just checking in.

Sorry for the lack of updates, but I've been working hard off and on since the last update. It's taking especially long because the next update has been more of a complete rewrite than a simple add-on. It's been a lot of work and hard to fit into an already busy season, but I just wanted to drop in and say thank you for your continued interest and support and I hope you all have wonderful holidays!

See ya soon,
Chris

Welcome to 2021, everyone! This is, admittedly, a pre-emptive post, but I'm really excited about what I've got brewing, so I thought it wouldn't hurt to share with those interested.

I'll be back at ya with the full rundown later, but in short, I've essentially rewritten HB-D from scratch over the last few months and it's finally just about at feature-parity and then some with the old version. It's still a little wonky in places, but overall it's pretty much perfectly usable.

Highlights of this version include
- caching of apps so you can scan once and then instantly browse your entire SD card's library the next times around
- new sorting and grouping options (that I think are super cool)
- better pinning
- lots more I'll cover later

This will save data in a different folder than the previous release so you can use them both side-by-side until the new version is mainlined.

Please let me know what you think of the new look and feel and if anything is broken or should be changed for the next release! Thanks, enjoy!

Great as always :) have you thought about adding the ability to change view type? like wall, list, thumbnail. etc.. (similar to what Kodi does?

EDIT: plus the ability to change scroll direction Vertical/Horizonal :)

Thanks, guys! You betcha. If you do some code/asset archaeology you may find bits and pieces of me experimenting with that. ;) Some of it is elsewhere and not uploaded for now though.

The Time Has Come!!

Changelog: [v1.0]

For the last four months or so I've been rewriting the application almost completely from the ground up. Here's what's new.

New Features:
- Scan files more than twice as fast
- Cache app lists to json and instantly reload them on next run without having to rescan
- Cache app icons for instantly reloading menus
- Sort list by categories (name, path, author, size, category)
- Sort list ascending or descending
- Group sorted lists by category (none, author, category, from appstore)
- Groundwork for language localization
- Groundwork for multiple view styles (icon grid and icon list coming soon)
- Welcome Page and Introduction for first run
- Settings is now a categorized json
- Pin Favorite apps to the top of the list
- Move Settings and Updater into their own panels accessible by list or main screen
- Delete folder if deleting app and it's the only thing in the folder
- Basically every other aspect rewritten for speed and stability

Frameworks:
- Updated nlohmann json
- Updated libnx
- Updated borealis ui
- Updated curl
