Hi I was about to buy a Vita to hack, I already have a 3ds hacked and I love it so I want to hack a Vita also.

I have heard theFlow is releasing hack for 3.69 and 3.70 soon so I have a question:

First off, I have heard that 3.65 and under runs a version with the exploit where you dont have to run the exploit every time you turn the system on

But I have heard that 3.68 is best because it is compatible with the most stuff.

My main question is would I be able to run NoNpDrm games on any hacked vita? Or Do those have specific Vita firmware versions applicable to each game as well?

Thank you.

You can run the games on any hacked version 3.65 or 3.68. I would advice you to hack version 3.68 if you can as it is a bit more stable from what i have read and would save you a bit of hassle in the future.

3.68 is not more stable

The most stable is 3.60, everything is made for 3.60 first
The 3.65 is good enough if play games and don t need 100% compatibility with plugins

3.68+ are quite bad, a lot of issues and as i said the target fw is 3.60, so plugins and some homebrews have issues.

Isn't it just abandoned plugins that haven't been updated?

Hopefully theflow will reignite the vita scene

sounds good enough to me, I just bought one off ebay or $240 already hacked with enso, henkaku with 3.65 with sd2vita 64gb. Didn't sound too overpriced. Plus its one state over from me so it will be here tomorrow or the next day. with OLED screen.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

I wanted to hack it myself, but oh well.

If you want to hack one it has to be on 3.60 or 3.61. Anything higher is basically non-valued. My dad bought a pre-owned one at gamestop for my birthday it ended up costing 100 dollars… Ended up being on 2.65 fw and had the ""older screen model""..... Didin't end up hacking it because I didin't want to lose Vita online features or cross-play/transfer for LBP. (Which is really complicated.)

California seems to have common lower numbered fw units. But if you go across the states all the way to the Virgin Islands or Colorado. They start to become uncommon. Key word their is uncommon

pretty sure its an LED screen. But it looks OLED to.

If your looking for guaranteed fw… (lol) Your going to have to find a deal. Or wait until the new 3.80/3.81 exploit comes out. Which will enable Homebrew and DevMode from a PSP title. (All PSP titles afaik.)

Theflow will never update other plugins.

Are there dead plugins?
Xerpi only supports 3.60, his plugins are not dead, so unless someone add support for more fws you may have issue with some of them.

If you don t use any of them, in any case 3.60-3.65 are the right choice.
Others are pointless unless want the latest fw with no new features and less freedom / no enso :)

Online works, there s no older screen, its oled vs lcd (none of them is old), fw is not important.

What I know: cold boot is on FW 3.60-3.65, and you can use compatibility packs to play games on a higher FW. So from my point of view: if you have a choice to buy a Vita, buy it on 3.60-3.65 :P

So you're saying if someone created a way of booting 3.70 using enso then we'd be held back by people who don't want to support 3.60?

Sounds like a pretty dead scene to me...

it's not dead..... In fact there are homebrew game bounties due to the sudden rise in very well made unity games (bigger ones or less optimized game require a slight OC). This scene is definitely near the end of it's life but it's been olding on very well.

The sdk is not even updated for 3.65, so unless the sdk is updated to support other fws, 3.60 will be the most stable.

Other than that, there are no real changes from 3.60 to 3.70, you only loose "features" like the ability to replace files in patches without repatch.

Actually we are stuck because we luck sdk devs to improve it and add more stuff.

Devkitpro has a good support, vitasdk development is slow.

If 3.70 will get a new boot exploit, then it will replace 3.65, but the problem will remain, if the sdk does not add support for new fws, everything will be compiled for 3.60 and there could be issues here and there.

At the time of writing devs need to test plugins on 3-4 different fws, not everyone is willing to do this especially if there s no valid reason (as i said there s no advantage right now, you hack the lastest to go back to 3.60 or 3.65)

What if you have a vita that left the factory on 3.67 or 3.68? The downgrade tool won't let you install either 3.60 or 3.65 (yet), so that sounds like a valid reason. ref00d slows your vita down, so that is another. If you're only going to test on one firmware then it makes most sense to be the latest, unless the scene isn't functioning properly. The ps3 scene supports the latest OS version and it's been going much longer.

I would assume the sdk hasn't been updated because nobody can be bothered because everyone is sticking on 3.60, which they are doing because the sdk hasn't been updated. Which sounds like a real passive aggressive nightmare & I try to avoid enabling those.

I hope it unblocks soon anyway.

Are there 3.67+ from factory?
I ve read that they are updated by the seller if you buy from japan, so they should have a lower fw like 3.65.

Anyway 90% of the vita out there are 3.65< so who cares? You can easily find one. I still find 1.80 vita in my country lol.

Main issue is the sdk, the 2nd issue is no boot exploit on 3.67+, 3rd issue is that there s no reason to update, really.

Enso is powerful and it lets you use vita2sd with no hassle, just boot and your sd is loaded.

Refood adds 1-2 secs when you load a game if, and only if, it must decrypt the game.
It s not relevant.

Yeah it does not work if the game has too many modules but the only game like this is pso2, and you can use a compat pack for that, or just update to 3.65.
So, no problem here.

Ps3 scene is quite different, they do have full cfw, they can do whatever they want.

I accidentally erased bitter smile *smashing my head into a wall* and have no access to a windows PC for maybe a couple days. That would be rad cause at least then I could update...
