Could I go into GodMode9 and move the update files somewhere else? And where would they be stored? The application in question is Super Smash Bros, if that helps. I just want a way to boot without updates and without removing my SD card.

Update files are stored in sd:/Nintendo 3DS/<ID0>/<ID1>/title/0004000e/xxxxxxxx , where <ID0> and <ID1> are pseudorandom instance IDs identifying your 3DS NAND and xxxxxxxx is the Title ID Low of the game. To disable the update, you'd just need to move or rename the directory temporarily.

Smash Bros. TID Low:
  • JPN: 000B8B00
  • USA: 000EDF00
  • EUR: 000EE000
