Hacking Homebrew psp 2.81 w/ GTA:LC how do i get homebrew?

my buddy just gave me his psp but its fw 2.81 can someone direct me to a walk through with up-to-date info.
ive read that i can update to 3.03 and still get the benefits of homebrew on a 3.03 system.

any info is appreciated.

Advice: Read a lot before you attempt to do any downgrading and installing custom firmwares.

Currently your best bet is to upgrade to 3.03, downgrade to 1.5, then install DA's cusotm firmware 3.10OE. Instructions are probably all on stickies on the site I posted.

i dont have a cable to connect my psp to my pc but i do have a sony digicam that uses memory sticks duo. could i in theory just add the memory stick to the camera add the files then pop it back in the psp? or would this totally brick it?

that's fine, that's just using it as a card reader. You just better be familiar with the file structure of a psp because you have to create the folders yourself. The psp cable is a cheap generic usb a to b cable I believe, can find it anywhere.

you could always buy a cable. The cable is easy to find and also cheap.

The cable for your sony camera is likely to be the mini usb cable needed to connect the PSP.... I use a cable from a cybershot.

The PSP doesn't really use any special cables. ANY generic A to B cable will work. I bought a fair amount of electrical devices and they all come with the cable so I'm never short on them.
