I found a new problem; when dropping into the Hive in Sector 1's Experimentation Room; I randomly was in the Gravity suit in the ingame cutscene.
I reloaded my save to get back there so I could take screenshots, but I guess it was a freak bug because I was in the Power Suit the next time through.

It's happened again, and this time in Sector 2's Ice area where Samus encounters a Metroid-Victim Husk. I can't seem to get it revert to Varia no matter how many times I reset the game!

Do you have save files for those?
Save0 was the backup of Save2, going further upto Dead Maurice to see if it still happened which it did; Save2 was my initial file where I first truly encountered the issue at the frozen Husk. Save1 is me going through the game again to test a theory.

Okay so Save 0 is should be the one to replicate the issue with the dead husk cutscene? and Save 2 for Maurice's?
Can you try one more thing, reset the entire game fresh and go straight into those cutscenes again, see if it happens on a fresh load.

Save0 is before Dead Maurice, Save2 is what I started with and first saw the issue with the frozen Husk.

I'm going through again to see if it happens again BUT I'm going to avoid getting the Missile in the water where you can drop from above to get into the submerged tunnel. I think because you're intended to have the Gravity Suit to jump in, the game assumed I'd have it for cutscenes. However that Missile tank is so easy to get just by dropping into the water to grab the edge of the tunnel

The save room right before the Husk cutscene is beyond that door, and this is the Missile I was wondering was causing the problem. I decided to skip this missile to see if that would fix the issue...

...It did not. Still Gravity. I could do a run where I barely grab anything, but I want to redo my old 100% walkthrough with this MOD.

Let me do a low% sprint through (although I don't want to; maybe it's percentage-calculated? DEBUGGING!)

Okay, what the hell? Now the corpse in the breeding room before Baby Ridley!
I literally have the bare minimum items; the require Missile and Energy Tank!
I don't know what the cause is. If I had around 15 Missiles total it was fine; this time I have only 11 total.

Are you running the game on Dolphin?
If you, I could use your help with getting a certain value in RAM when you get those gravity suits.
Let me know if you can so I can give you the instructions to debug this proper.

I swear I was NOT having these issues this early. I skipped items to get back to Sector 2 ASAP; is it time-based?
Or... did something go wrong in re-compiling the ISO? I am playing in WBFS format.

How do I bring that up in Dolphin?
Would it be best to be in a Discord call or something? I'm not code-minded and message-delay may be an issue

I've enabled Debugging UI in Dolphin; what value to I need to report during the cutscenes?

I need you to go into View -> Memory
This will enable the Memory Viewer for the game.
Then, type address 0x80CA4E20, 0x80CA4E28 is also of importance but it should be visible alongside 0x80CA4E20.
When the issue with the Gravity suit happens, let me know what values you have 0x80CA4E20 and 0x80CA4E28.
I am using those two addresses as indicators for knowing what equipment we have at a certain moment.

However I did notice 0x80CA4E28 change when I got the unavoidable Missile Tank getting to the Corpse in Sector 1's breeding room... could a combination of specific collected items be changing the values to erroneously set the cutscene model to Gravity?

Is there anything else I could possibly do to help diagnose this issue?

Mmm I'm not 100% sure, but I think the problem I'm seeing is that 0B and 1F in 0x80CA4E28.
The code I implemented makes some bit 0 checks, if it's 0 then it uses Varia, and if it's 1 it does Gravity.
However, I think the problem is that the bit check is being done BEFORE the one from 0x80CA4E20, so it enables Gravity due to it detecting bit 0 being active in 0x80CA4E28.
Both 0x0F and 0x1F have bit 0 active, so I think that's what's triggering Gravity to be loaded instead of the Varia Suit?
Remind me if I'm wrong, but in the cutscenes you've shown, you are supposed to still have the Power Suit, right? Not the Varia suit.

The pictures from Sector 1 from the start of the game you're supposed to be in the Power Suit
The pictures from Sector 2 happen after regaining Varia and leaving Sector 3

I've not once had an instance where I've been in Power or Varia when I'm not supposed to; only Gravity.

I feel not grabbing anything will prevent the values from changing

from the top 2 from Baby Ridley cutscene; I continued to the next in-game cutscene being in the Hive without grabbing anything other than the required Diffusion Beam, and in the Hive I am in Gravity Suit when I should be in the Power Suit. I still have the required 1 Energy & 1 Missile Tank collected upto this point; nothing optional.

I decided to grab a missile each time to see if I get a different outcome:
And just with 1 more Missile tank (2 total)... Power Suit!

I have never seen the Varia suit where I shouldn't... yet.

From the Frozen Husk I got to the next cutscene being dead Maurice without collecting anything in-between. I have 21 total Missile tanks collected in this file. Only thing collected was the required Speed Booster + Shinespark.
We're supposed to be wearing the Varia Suit at this point.

1791934272979.png

I'll do what I did before and keep grabbing a missile tank to see if I get any change:
and again with 1 more Missile tank (22 total + 1 Energy Part I didn't mean to grab, that's why that value went from 5 to 6)... Varia; as it should be!
1791934680843.png

1791934690430.png

From what I can see from the value in 0x80CA4E28; it seems it's the total missile tanks that are deciding what Suit loads; being whatever it's supposed to be, or defaults to Gravity if not correct. To my limited understanding; at least.

Yep this confirms my suspicion.
It's reading bit 0 from 0x80CA4E28 as if we had obtained Gravity suit already, hence why it appears when you have 0B and 1F but not when you have 0C and 20 after obtaining a single Missile Tank.

Please do the following.
Continue all the way up to the point where you get the Gravity Suit normally.
Once you do, let me know precisely what the values in those addresses are before you Gravity and after obtaining Gravity.
That should give me an indication of what the true bit for Gravity Suit is when obtaining it.

Before getting Gravity
(39 missile tanks total, just in case if you need that info; I was in Gravity instead of Varia during the in-game cutscene moments in-between the gameplay & FMVs)

Mmmmm seems like the actual bit that changed in bit 2 from 0x80CA4E20, not bit 0 as I originally thought.
Can you do some more tests for me, please?
Try grabbing a couple of other items, no matter which ones, and then try getting the Gravity suit again, see what value appears at 0x80CA4E20 and 0x80CA4E28 just to be sure.
Try grabbing one, then check again, try grabbing two, then check again, I think with a third check it should be good to be sure.
Also, try loading the game from different Navigation rooms, I'm not sure if loading it from different areas can have a change in it too.

I actually cannot grab anymore; I missed a few items in Sector 1 on this file early on but the doors were locked
😓

And I'd be going back quite a ways; almost near the beginning of the game again. The only way I can get different values is if I skipped items instead.

I'll see what I can do, but I can't do it tonight or tomorrow.

Just a thought; since collecting a Missile Tank just increases it's value by +1 and rolling into the next set from xf, could it be calculated in that manner?

The value that increases by 1 when grabbing Missile tanks is actually 0x80CA4E28, not 0x80CA4E20.
0x80CA4E20 is the one I'm looking for (This one changed from EFF3 to EFF7 upon getting Gravity according to your image), as it seems to be like that one is indeed the gear address. That's why I wanted to see if grabbing any more Missile, Accel or Energy tanks would make a difference towards that specific address.
