Message sent in the now-deleted MKWii 3DS Discord Server by the developer

Today, the developer of the Mario Kart Wii 3DS port (MKWii 3DS) has announced the discontinuation of the project after somebody compiled a full build of the game's CIA, made a QR code and posted it on the r/3dsqrcodes subreddit (which as shown in the image the mods later removed for an unknown reason). According to the developer, who would later post on the r/3dshomebrew thread on the topic, he reported that he was stopping development because of the community's behavior which he cited as not normal. Additionally, he went on to say that he got demands and threats in his direct messages, "kids with no coding experience immediately throwing out the hot phrase 'vibe coding'" and overall stipulated that the Melee 3DS developer was "respected."

MKWii 3DS was originally available for download exclusively on the project's discord, along with source code, it was never posted to Github and that server was deleted shortly after the announcement.

Yeah this is why you don't make projects only available on Discord and you are surprised that there are annoying children?

Discord only sucks because when you have an atomic meltdown everything gets lost...

Having a meltdown over a repost with all the game data seems silly what do you expect? That's just how the internet works.

That's why I don't tell anyone nor release my projects (yet) and enjoy them for myself :P
I do the same thing. I'm working on another project after publicly releasing Android. That one, just like Android and any other project I shall do, will remain private and closed until I feel good enough to release it. Difference with game ports is, it gets released when its done, not when its in alpha or some shi.

Also discord has horrible privacy implications these days. People need to be shunned for using it when Github alone can accomplish everything a Discord server can while also being indexable to the public with way fewer privacy concerns.

While I understand how the developer feel about the CIA leak, I also believe that if you don't want to get attention you shut your mouth until you've got things done. You need to be very naive if you expect people to behave properly under all means, they won't, and that's a rule. Of course I'm not generalizing here, I'd be completely wrong.

Internet is full of *holes that think they're entitled to request and demand things done. That, won't come to and end, but developers should be advised that this WILL happen every time they disclose a project prematurely.

And about Discord, there are legit channels that do their best to get things done, and apply rules strictly (good for them), sadly that's not a common thing and the whining also reach every now and then.

"Silence is golden". Garbage.

OP did a few big mistakes there:
- Trusted others too much
- Gave too much voice to Yoshi/Undertale/Fnaf pfps. The worse the fandom the worse the interaction. Either block or ignore.
- Even if the work was mostly human made anti-AI folks weren't gonna play with it anyway. And most of them can't even distinguish a human-made port, a totally vibe coded one, with an AI assisted one.
- It's a Mario game driving a car not a fucking bank account DB manager It's not that deep

People want free shit and act spoiled all the time for something that they'll just use to play for like 10 minutes tops. Just work on your stuff at your own pace, post updates sometimes if you want, release it when you think It's time. People take stuff for granted ~70% of the time.
