Metroid Prime Origins Fan Game (Lv.4 Games, GameMaker Studio 2 YYC).

Switch Port: https://github.com/bshurikan/mpo_nx

I had the pleasure of working directly with Lv.4 to release the YYC APK Android port of this amazing game, which in turn allows for a full speed GM Wrapper for Switch! :)

Note: performance is full speed in most areas but users may experience slow down in a few rooms with many sprites/weather effects (without overclock), still perfectly enjoyable though.

Update: As of 1.1.2d performance has been optimized so it is silky smooth even in heavier rooms!

I've added an NX Options menu with some additional performance and QOL options accessible by pressing L3 + R3 :).

Note: I previously posted about this port in the Ulltimate Switch Port Thread, but realized it's useful to have a separate thread for a project if you want it to be found by Search Engines.

Enjoy!

how to play fullscreen? this appears 3:4 in my switch not fullscreen
It's 4:3 by design, no widescreen is planned by LVL4 e.g. intended to be old school aesthetic - for CRT monitor.

However good point, I'll add some optional display modes in the next release e.g. stretch to fullscreen. I'm working on a bunch of optimizations to make it silky smooth on switch (current release still lags in some of the larger rooms with weather effects), 1.1.2d coming soon :).

Any support for the VM builds, for randomization?

This project originally used a VM build but unfortunately performance is very bad on switch - 75% of full speed at best so it feels like playing it slow mo, VM was abandoned for full speed YYC which is way better but still dips in some areas and I am currently fine tuning. You can test with the original port release which was VM if you're interested.

I am curious about randomization though, thanks for bringing it up, I'll look into it :).

Hey @Donnabaker,

v1.1.2d is now available with a bunch of improvements including a 16:9 stretched option and better performance!

Thanks again for the suggestion, that's also how I would enjoy playing - using the whole of my OLEDs screen :) (I'm not a stickler for pixel perfect but that's still an option).

Thank you for posting this! I’ve never heard of it before, but everything looks promising based on the YouTube videos I’ve watched—except for the running animation. If I remember correctly, though, it’s probably a homage to the NES running sprite, right?

Welcome! I've loved my time with it, it reminds me of Animal Well and Shovel Knight in its vibe and aesthetic - its dripping with nostalgia and is a complete and faithful demake of Metroid Prime. I'm in awe after beating it, and my name is in the credits which is amazing. I hope you enjoy!
