Hi all, apologies if this is the wrong forum to post this, as this is my first post. I found myself sufficiently frustrated with the lack of information on the boards or elsewhere about getting this specific controller to work on the Wii, so I am posting for anyone else that has this issue in the future (and is too stubborn to buy something that works more easily.)

The controller in question is the Hori Battle Pad for the Switch. It looks like a Gamecube controller and connects via USB. To be clear, this is not the Wii-U version which works natively as I understand.

The problem many faced is that the controller has a different PID when connected to a computer vs the Wii. Using HID test on the Wii, I found that it is HID compatible under the VID/PID pair 0F0D_00C1. (The PC recognized one seems to be for XINPUT - mappings generated under this api will not work on the Wii.)

I have attached the config file that worked for me. Resave the text file as a .ini with the same filename, and then place it in the /controllers/ directory on the root of the SD card.

I just bought this gamepad for use with Nintendont without checking if there are any issues with it, so I really hope your config works :P. Will test when I get it. Has anybody else managed to test it already?

Hi,
I have tried this with the Zelda hori battle pad, it has the same VID and PID so I suppose it should work.
However, no luck yet..

It does something for sure, because when I start any game via Nintendont it doesn't recognize Wiimote controller until I plug this one out.
Also tried everything from this github page
https://github.com/FIX94/Nintendont/issues/923

HID test always states "Failed to open config" whatever combination I tried with the controller.ini in the root.
Values for buttons are responding and are the same as in your ini.

This gamepad has a button switch feature which is activated with the button combination while connecting, it does illuminate the red led in the middle but the result is the same.

Your best route would have been to buy the official wireless gamecube nintendo one from the nintendo store. Then buy the Blueretro gamecube dongle and put that in one of you wii gamecube slots.

Perfect compatibility that way!

I'm looking for a way to set this one up so it's not wasted. Especially since it's GameCube design.
I don't see a point in using it on switch since there are no gc games there.
Not looking to get additional controllers I already have too many

If you already have the controller I understand.

This was general information since a lot of people don't know you can use the latest gamecube controllers on an actuall Wii or Gamecube. I wasn't talking about using it on the actual switch. But the switch 2 actually does have gamecube games through NSO.
