Joy con sort of drifting?

No, I do mean system update.. I know it seems unlikely, but sweeping GBA in this two recent discussion (this thread and https://gbatemp.net/threads/controller-analog-stick-moving-by-itself-but-not-joy-con-drift.610413/) we are now complaining about a different kind of drift.

I already had drifting joycon in the past but never of these kind. It was always a matter of inaccurate positioning, the calibration was always showing a trembling movement. Here nothing is happening when I try to calibrate, everything seems fine. I get back in the menu and the analogue start to move all way right. In some games I have no problem at all (metroid) while in Breath of the wild I have some phantom movement...
Is it worth a redeploy of the Emunand firmware? Or maybe see if there is a joycon firmware update?

Simply spray "contact spray" into the gap from the analog stick.
Then circle the stick a few times and the drift is history.

All that is, is a temporary fix

Much like all those people “cooking” their Xbox’s back on the day to “fix” the red ring of death

Temporrary fix for more then a year??
I don't think so.
To place a new stick is also a temporary fix!!!

What you're describing — keeps moving briefly after you let go, only in one direction — sounds more like the stick physically sticking than classic sensor drift. Sensor drift shows up at rest too. Try lifting the rubber skirt and blowing out any grit, then work the stick in circles for a minute. If it still feels sluggish snapping back to center, the return mechanism is worn and a stick replacement is the real fix.
