Added the following full releases:
- Fate EXTRA/Record
- Stellar Blade: Complete Edition

Added the following game key card releases:
- Hell is Us

Added the following Nintendo Switch 2 Edition releases:
- Trails in the Sky: 2nd Chapter
Remember to add Age of Calamity DE to the key card list

VGP has Hyrule Warriors: Calamity as a GKC release, but hey, I hope they're wrong and that it's a full cart.

So Techmo Koei has more pull over how it's published, given that they self-published in Japan... just like Pokemon Pokpia, also developed mostly by Techmo Koei by The pokemon company in Japan... You know i think Nintendo gives the companies they partner with too much wiggle room with how they decide to release them... then again i don't think there has been much development on Switch 2 Cart sizes beyond maybe there being 16 and 32GB carts and if they redid the models or texturework to be bigger or more complex, chances are that would increace the file size more than those thresholds.

Those who watch AVGN will remember this one...

The price? $35.

It's really cool this is getting a physical release, but realistically it's a game you'd buy from the eShop for $2-3. They should've done an Arcade Compilation to make that value worth it.

Is that brawler any good? AVGN isn't worth a spit for honesty in reviews as it's just clickbait.

Also LimitedRun is finally delivering their first Switch2 releases into homes with High on Life, the concept despite my apathy with FPS games these days, was one I grabbed out of curiosity, Earnest Evans Collection was in the bag too which was nice to see given I'll never own a Sega CD for that third part there.

The game is loads of fun like The Simpsons Arcade, but I'm not sure it's long enough to be worth $35.

That's good to know, and likely it is not, but there are costs involved in those cards vs the lower barrier of some optical media. Those 64GB cards were like $17 each when it came out over a year ago, even if they used one 1/2 that size I'd doubt they're sold for under $10 so there is a painful margin to cover before the usual operating costs so I kind of get it.

Bought Kirby and the Forgotten Land for the Switch 1 and unfortunately it only runs at 30fps, I thought it'd be 60. So there is a legitimate reason to buy the NS2 cart if it's available.

High on Life Nintendo Switch 2 version is now shipping and arriving from LImited Run Games it's #1 for the NS2 library and it's all on the card. I didn't see that unless I missed it on the top physical games listing. May apply to the NS1 with 2 on card, not sure how this one works, but it's worth adding.

Will check this out tomorrow.

Still working on a proper thread title, but for now, please continue reading...

Hello everyone, today I decided to delve into the current state of physical releases for the Nintendo Switch 2. Initially when the Nintendo Switch 2 came out, I already wasn't convinced or pleased with the funky nature of things like Game Key Cards and such. I already had opinions over the matter then, and I still hold true to those opinions today, if not more so now more than ever. For the record moving forward, I don't personally own a Nintendo Switch 2, and I don't have plans to ever own a Nintendo Switch 2 for quite a few different reasons. My primary concern in this thread has to do with the current state of physical releases for the platform, because as it stands, it's actually kind of scary with what I have encountered so far with some of the games currently available. I created an image library of the packaging art of many physical releases, of course this list isn't complete for many reasons, but it does give a general idea of what I am trying to show and why I have concerns. I broke this list down into five categories, this will change as time goes on when I add more the list, not to mention potential further optimizations. Unfortunately this won't be organized very well for the time being, sorry for that.

The categories are as follows:
- Physical Releases
- Physical Releases (Partial)
- Physical Releases (Digital Download Codes)
- Physical Releases (Game Key Cards)
- Physical Releases (Nintendo Switch Software + Upgrade Pack Releases)

Lengthy category names, but I will delve into what they mean below.

NOTE:
I'm not going to sit and claim to be an expert, and I may get some things wrong. Considering the work in progress nature of the list already, mistakes are going to be made. If there is an error, let me know and I can make corrections. I'm working based on the information presented to me, and my personal understanding of this matter. I anticipate and am open to changes in this logic. Also, the primary reason why I chose to use postimages.org for the images, instead of Imgur, is because Imgur made too many changes to the organization of how images are handled. I don't even know where the category options are anymore, unless they removed them. I suggest using an ad-blocker when viewing the images. I tried to post the links to lead directly to the images to bypass the ads, but platforms do platform things. Sorry guys and gals, I tried.

IMPORTANT:
If you guys source out images for these releases, please post source links. I perform image data transcoding and general optimizations, this way I can preserve the images in the best ways possible. The closer I can get to source material, the better. Avoid re-uploading if you can, unless it's absolutely necessary.

Physical Releases
Total Entries: 36

This category consists of your standard issue physical releases. The software in this category are not only native Nintendo Switch 2 hardware capable, but are also fully stored on the game cartridge, meaning the user can run the software offline.

Physical Releases (Partial)
Total Entries: 1

This category consists of partial physical releases. The software in this category usually have missing content within the confines of the physical cartridge. Results may vary on severity of the situation, ranging from the inability to obtain 100% progress completion, to literal chunks of missing data, rendering the software completely unusable by itself. These releases require that you download the rest of the missing content through a software update, usually day one updates. The software in this category is native to the Nintendo Switch 2 hardware like the genuine physical releases. Offline play is still possible, however your experience may be compromised if you lack all of the necessary data to make the software complete.

Physical Releases (Game Key Cards)
Total Entries: 76

This category is very similar to download code physical releases, with the difference being that the physical cartridge(s) themselves act as the key to access and download titles from the Nintendo eShop. The software in this category is native to the Nintendo Switch 2 hardware like the genuine physical releases. Game data is not stored on the cartridges however, which means these cartridges are effectively useless in an offline state, if you haven't downloaded the game prior to going offline.

Physical Releases (Digital Download Codes)
Total Entries: 7

This category is very similar to game key card physical releases, with the difference being that there is no physical cartridge inside the software packaging, instead there is a slip with a download code, intended to be used in order to download the software from the Nintendo eShop. The software in this category is native to the Nintendo Switch 2 hardware like the genuine physical releases. Offline play is still possible, but only if you have downloaded the game from the Nintendo eShop with an active internet connection.

Physical Releases (Nintendo Switch Software + Upgrade Pack Releases)
Total Entries: 23

This category consists of Nintendo Switch software releases with an additional upgrade pack to take advantage of the Nintendo Switch 2 hardware. Essentially, think of this category as Nintendo DS games with Nintendo DSi enhanced features, or Nintendo 3DS games with New Nintendo 3DS enhanced features. However, unlike the systems prior to the Nintendo Switch, this software has a price of $10 extra for what's essentially Nintendo Switch 2 enhancements. This isn't to say that this is purely the case for every Nintendo Switch 2 Edition release, but for most releases, this is generally the case. To clarify, Nintendo Switch 2 Editions are NOT equivalent to native Nintendo Switch 2 software, as these releases explicity state the use of original Nintendo Switch software with upgrade packs right on the front of the packaging. Essentially forming Nintendo Switch games with Nintendo Switch 2 enhanced features. This is the primary reason I have split these releases away from the genuine physical releases, because they technically aren't full fledged Nintendo Switch 2 software builds. These releases are backwards compatible with the Nintendo Switch, meaning if you want to future proof for if an when you get a Nintendo Switch 2, you'll get the best of both worlds, if you pay a little extra ($10 more) for these versions.
How the heck are there only 36 physical releases?!?!?

Bought Kirby and the Forgotten Land for the Switch 1 and unfortunately it only runs at 30fps, I thought it'd be 60. So there is a legitimate reason to buy the NS2 cart if it's available.
Personally, I go based on if the game is actually designed well for the frame rate specified. I mean, good games like Pokémon HeartGold didn't need to be 60 FPS to be good, or playable. Obviously, 60 FPS will feel smoother than 30 FPS, but I wouldn't say it's entirely a deal breaker if it isn't there. Now if it turns out the game is objectively horrible at 30 FPS, then yes, the Nintendo Switch 2 version is probably more ideal.

Most physical games are game key cards.
