Hi everyone!
Patch Clan is happy to release our English translation patch for Magic Knight Rayearth 2: Making of Magic Knight, originally released exclusively in Japan for the Sega Game Gear.
This is another Japanese-exclusive game that can now be played in English.
ABOUT THE GAME
Magic Knight Rayearth 2 is based on the famous manga and anime series by CLAMP and was released for the Game Gear in Japan.
Unlike the first Game Gear title, this sequel focuses on Hikaru, Umi and Fuu's journey and development as Magic Knights, combining adventure and RPG elements with the colorful presentation of the original series.
Despite the popularity of Magic Knight Rayearth outside Japan, this Game Gear sequel never received an official English localization.
THE TRANSLATION
Our goal was not simply to replace the Japanese text, but to make the game feel natural to English-speaking players while remaining faithful to the terminology, characters and atmosphere of Magic Knight Rayearth.
The project includes:
• English translation of the game's text
• Menus and interface translated
• Graphics containing Japanese text localized
• Character dialogue adapted for natural English
• Terminology reviewed for consistency with Magic Knight Rayearth
• Various text and formatting adjustments required by the original Game Gear engine
We also worked carefully within the technical limitations of the original hardware and game.

ABOUT PATCH CLAN
Patch Clan is a ROM-hacking and fan-translation project focused especially on games that were never officially available in English or other Western languages.
Our goal is to help preserve and make accessible interesting games that remained locked behind a language barrier.
We are currently working on several Japanese-exclusive games across different systems.
If you find a typo, untranslated text, graphical issue or other bug, please report it in this thread. Screenshots and information about where the problem occurs are especially helpful.
We hope this release gives more people a chance to discover this lesser-known chapter of Magic Knight Rayearth's videogame history.
Enjoy!
