Monster Hunter Wilds to get permanent price drop from August 4th

In this time of everything costing more a year after it's released, it's nice to see some things sticking to the old ways. Capcom have today announced that the latest game in the Monster Hunter series, Monster Hunter Wilds, will see a permanent price reduction from August 4th. I've seen reports of this being around 45% off, though cannot find a specific source for those claims. Alongside this price reduction, we're also seeing some of the bundles from launch being updated new bundles, largely changing which cosmetic DLCs are included.

This all comes in preparation for the upcoming expansion, Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascension, that's set to launch in 2027.

I'm still surprised this isn't a free to play or subscription mmo. It's capcom's best selling series. It could perhaps been as big as final fantasy 14 or phantasy star online 2. :ninja:

Yeah that's just smart business sense. Most bought in to Wilds very early, but this gets a few more people on board for an expansion that hopefully shakes things up in a good way. A lot of Monster Hunter veterans and even just people coming from World didn't like how easy/quick hunts were throughout Wilds. I'd concur and say it was only good and not great, but I got my money's worth.

So people are gonna review bomb the game when the game+expansion bundle price is lower than early adopter price+expansion right? RIGHT?

I doubt it, fairly sure they’ve done something similar for previous games too. Both World and Rise on Steam are similarly priced for the base game.
