Ugh... Belgium vs USA next Wednesday. On one hand the team did better than I thought, and frankly... The match against Senegal was tight, but Senegal was overall better imho.

On the other hand... Why the fuck bother? Balogun got a red card in the last match so according to theoretical rules he shouldn't be in the match on usa's team. But Trump made a call to Infantino, and now the penalty is reversed.
I can't say i care about the sport, but i care about the principle. Why the fuck do we even bother showing up? Just give the USA another gold prize and just get the teams out safely.

(note: i had to Google this guy. My wife and colleagues won't shut up about it)

To add for the lulz, Balogun only plays for the Yanks because he got birthright citizenship, which Trump wants to abolish, because the airplane company thought his mother was too heavily pregnant to fly. If things had gone to plan, he would have been born in England and have no way to play the US team.

The White House putting this effort for Balogun to play when in thier eyes, he shouldn't have American citizenship is somewhat remarkable. As this is the World Cup, there's something to be said about inconsistent right wingers.

I just had to laugh out loud when listening to the radio.
Earlier in the day, FIFA tried to claim that the decision was made internally, and the report of the opposite was from unnamed, inside sources.
But of course you can count on Trump to be ignorant: he just flat out admitted calling Infantino. Worse, he came with an excuse that even my six year old knows better than to attempt.

He said the red card was 'a great injustice' because "it hindered Balogun in a match that hadn't been played yet".
...
No, i kid you not. Not only does this guy understands even less of soccer than I do, he fundamentally lacks the concept of cause and consequence.

Like... I'm open to suggestions to why the card was unjust. It's not like Belgian analysts were unanimous in that. But that excuse... Really?
"i can't go to jail, your honor. It'll limit me in the years I haven't lived yet. :) "

The joke is that now Belgium essentially can't lose. We must likely would've lost, but now it'll always be because Trump cheated.
