Hi guys,

there are a lot of documented issues regarding "Max Item" cheats for Tears of the Kingdom. Particularly, cheats that give you 999 pieces of any item are known to mess with your AutoBuild history, fully breaking it in some cases (c.f, https://www.reddit.com/r/TOTK/comments/138s2br/help_fixing_a_bug/, https://github.com/marcrobledo/savegame-editors/issues/226)

I love making ASM-based cheats for most of the singleplayer games I play, so I actually ran into this issue myself with my own x999 items cheat.
However, I have made some adjustments to my codes and they should now work all the time without breaking anything. That means, you can just turn them on and completely forget about them.
As the logic that I implemented depends on some hard-coded values I would like to ask you guys for your support in testing the attached cheat file on your save file (make a backup beforehand!!!)

There are two limitations: The file is only compatible with Tears of the Kingdom 1.4.2. I'm not completely against porting it to 1.4.3 but for now, I'd like to focus on 1.4.2 and iron out all the kinks first, Secondly, I'm currently distributing this as an IPS patch because I personally don't use the text based cheat files that can be used via Edizon or Checkpoint. So keep this in mind, please. (I can provide a txt cheat file at a later point)

If you're interested and the limitations stated above aren't a dealbreaker for you, download and extract the attached IPS file and copy it onto your SD card to /atmosphere/exefs_patches/<some_folder>/5CB42B1CF25469FB0635FD046453D843C18BC8AB000000000000000000000000.ips

Please disable all other rupee and item related cheats while you're using this patch.

The following cheats are included:
1. Max Rupees:
  • Sell any item at any store in the game, and you should then have 999,999 rupees in your wallet
  • Sometimes also triggers when buying stuff
  • Please test: Nothing, really. I don't mind if this doesn't trigger in all cases (when do you actually *need* 999,999 rupees anyway)
2. Infinite Arrows:
  • Collecting arrows (when you already have some!) will give you 999 arrows
  • Shooting arrows doesn't actually decrement your arrows
  • Please test: Nothing, should just work.
3. Max Items
There are actually two different codes included for this purpose (I'm just writing this down for documentation purposes, this will be completely transparent to you as the user)
3.1 Max out items when fusing them to an arrow
  • Fusing an item to an arrow and then cancelling the shot (just by pressing B after the fuse until Link stops using the bow) gives you the maximum quantity of that item
  • Amount should switch to 999,999 for (Large) Zonaite and 999 for everything else
  • Same logic is triggered (for some reason) when buying consumable items from a store or when collecting Crystallized Charges
  • Obviously only works with items that can be fused to Arrows or bought in shops -> On my save file, this doesn't work for Honey, no idea why but the function that I'm hooking just isn't executed on that item - doesn't really matter because of cheat 3.2
3.2 Max out items when collecting them
  • After picking up an item that you already have, the amount will be set to 999 or 999,999 depending on the regularly allowed maximum
  • Should work for everything that you can pick up from the ground (regular items, Zonai capsules, Poe Souls, etc.)
  • Known limitation: When you have less than 999 pieces of (Large) Zonaite or Poe Souls you will first receive 999 of those. If you collect one more, you will then get 999,999
Please test: Basically, just play the game normally and look out for anything weird that happens.
Things to look out for:
  • Items that have a regular max quantity of 999 getting 999,999 or vice versa
  • Cheats messsing with quest items like
    • Korok seed amounts
    • Old Map amounts
    • Yiga schematic amounts
    • Bubbul Gem amounts
    • Sage's Will amounts
    • Light of Blessing amounts
    • Sleepover tickets to a lesser extent
  • Autobuild history!!!
    • The Autobuild history should only contain 30 entries at most, as soon as there are more than 30 builds in your history, please let me know (the game conveniently displays the amount in the Autobuild menu)
    • If you experience anything weird at all, please let me know.

There are safeguards in place to make sure that none of the cheats will alter any of the quest item amounts above and especially Autobuild. Some of these safeguards rely on hard-coded values that just happen to be in the CPU registers at the time the cheat is executed. I don't know if these are specific to my save file or if they work on any 1.4.2. TotK game, so definitely watch out for that. I'm concerned with situations where you collect your 125th Korok Seeds for instance and the game will suddenly tell you you've got 999.
Obviously also let me know if you run into any crashes / hangs, etc. but I've been playing with some iteration of these cheats for 80 hours and everything's been fine so I'm not expecting anything too crazy :)

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
