Translation Project Help on translating Natsuiro High School: Seishun Hakusho to English

Hello everyone. The original project owner, Froid-San (happydance on here), had abandoned this fan translation project for the Japanese game Natsuiro High School: Seishun Hakusho since 2017 and a lot of non-Japanese players were looking forward to playing it in english. Luckily before Froid abandoned the project he said that anyone who’s willing to complete the project can ask him for the files. I happen to ask for them and he obliged and now I have the files to his translating patch. He already did most of the heavy stuff like the UI, menus, quests list, map, etc. . Only things left are the in game dialogue but the thing is there’s A LOT of dialogue still needing left to translate.

I’m requesting a team or somebody to finish this project. If anyone is willing to take a look or tackle it I’m happy to share the files. I did some translating work on it too but my modding and translating skills are beginner level to be honest. Please message or comment any questions y’all got, thank you.

if you can't find anyone willing to translate the in-game text files, why not try using DeepL as a substitute until some sorta team like HillTop or EX Troopers guys can help out.

See if SnowyAria is willing to help out for you, i would love to get a hand at this but atm i'm working on a 18+ uncensoring mod for Eiyu*Senki – The World Conquest at the moment.
 
didn't know someone actually have same idea to continue froid_san works for this game, i've also asked him last year and i still have his translation project files.

But the problem is i'm not a modder/hacker, just a japanese major student who want to join video game translation project. If there anything i can help for the translation part, i'm very willing to help

Would I be able to grab the files as it stands anyway? Its not looking too promising but at least can navigate menus and what not

I been waiting forever for this game to be imported to PC and be in English. I would glad to assist with some translating and the culture understanding from Japanese culture references.

Is this project still being worked on from you as well? I don't want false hope, seeing that your only post is this on the website. Can we at least get an update like every couple months to know if you too have not abandoned the project? I know many non-Japanese people, like me as well, try every once in a while, to scavenge the internet & look to see if someone's working on an English translation. Only to arrive at a dead end with the research. I finally found this, but I look at the date of posting, & it says 2022. Basically 3 years ago.

Has there been any updates on this? I just started working on this game from scratch and discovered this post just now and don't want to step on any toes if this project is already in development.
 
for some reason i have the files too, asked it to froid-san back then as i'm interested in translating the game. But due to uni stuff, i was too busy to mess around with it. If anyone interested into continuing the project, i could help in translating
 
Hello, everyone. I was not aware of any previous translation efforts until I stumbled on this thread, but I've actually been working on this game, the PS4 version in particular, on my spare time. I have just completed one of the heroine routes to make sure the game can be played from beginning to end, since the scripting is pretty fragile. Here are some screenshots:

I understand the texture formats, and I am also able to edit the dialog. At this point, most of the dialog has been translated using machine learning. It's hit or miss, pretty rough but understandable, with issues such as mixing up pronouns, using inconsistent nomenclature, mixing up characters, or simply skipping lines - this is because the dialog entries are self-contained and out of order, and most of the time there just isn't enough context for the model to reliably figure out what is going on.
I'm trying other approaches, and while some of them might be a bit more promising with cleanup, it will likely never be great. Simply put, the translation needs an editor, but there's just too much to go through and I don't have the time right now.
Of course, I plan to release whatever I have, even if it's not polished, but at this point there are still some issues I want to address first, mostly the fact that none of the item or quest text has been translated yet, and the data for those will likely be harder to replace with arbitrary length text. There are still issues with text alignment too, as you can see in the screenshots, which I think I can fix, but I'm not looking forward to.

Since apparently someone has made a previous attempt at a translation and left the files for someone else to pick up, I would politely ask for whoever still has them to share them with me so I can see if I can integrate some of that work on my side.
