Twilight Princess PC port "Dusk" gets its first release

It wasn't too long ago we saw our first glimpse of Courage Reborn, another Twilight Princess PC port in the works based on last year's decompilation efforts. With each port offering its own take on what an enhanced version of the game could look like, it's a fantastic time to be a fan of the game. And for those wanting to jump back into Hyrule right now, good news has arrived. Dusk has had its first release.

Available for Windows, Mac (ARM and x86), Linux (ARM and x86), Android, and iOS, you will struggle to not have a way to play. Featuring controller-friendly menus, you really just need an ISO for the game to get started. Once that's loaded in, you're able to pick whether you want the classic GameCube experience, or a bunch of new quality of life and graphical changes as your starting point. This port features a great variety of tweaks, most notably for me including an on the fly way to mirror the overworld. Those who grew up playing the Wii version will find this invaluable.

Along with the release, we also got a brief trailer covering a lot of what's included:

A lot of this was fairly well known, with the only major announcement coming at the end with the tease of a randomiser mode. Those interested in getting this setup for themselves can find the downloads below. As mentioned before you will need to supply your own ISO.

I think I'll wait until "Courage reborn" is out and we have like comparison videos. I prefer to know my options before jumping in to the game. TP is honestly a top Legend of zelda for me but I don't have much time right now so I think I can wait.

Has anyone managed to successfully launch this via batocera? The app image loads fine but doesn't allow me to browse to the disc image.

I've been playing this for almost the entire day, the only weird thing I noticed is that at least on my PC whenever I switched to fullscreen I couldn't uncap the framerate, it was always stuck at 30, I'm guessing this is an issue with me using NVIDIA on GNOME, because when I forced it to run under xwayland instead of native wayland it seem to have fixed most of the issues I was having.

My favourite 3D Zelda hands-down. That is very impressive. Even more so when you know they went the decompilation route. Hopefully will be able to try this one out soon!

Did you have VSync enabled by any chance?
I get similar things happening in many programs, where it would also lag a lot if the program ran in the background, so this could be related.

I will await the Vita port.

Also something that I dream about is a 3DS port where the developers actually downgraded the assets and made it run at like 20fps but there's 3DS and like "wow" etc.

I agree on both points!

I am not sure how often this will be updated, or if their built in update checker is just that or also handles the update process automatically. So I figured for now its a starting point before merging!

Maybe even a mod browser and installer once that all gets cleared up a bit more. I think gamebanana is hit or miss?
A generalized Port updater that checks github and can download/update them automatically would be a godsend. every two weeks or so i go through all githubs to check for updates, this would automate that and make it much simpler.

I will get a Zelda one finished up this week :)

I already have minish cap and this done. So it shouldn’t be hard to hard to add oot or Majoras mask
