Steam Controller gets official release date and pricing, set to launch May 4th

After much speculation and a couple of leaks in the past few days, Valve have finally confirmed both the release date and price of their upcoming Steam Controller. Set to launch on the 4th of May, the much-anticipated controller will cost £85 in the UK and $99 in the US.

For that price you'll be getting a wholly unique controller, featuring TMR analogue sticks, four haptic motors, the Steam Controller Puck for low-latency wireless connectivity, and a battery that will reportedly last you more than 35 hours between charges. Those interested in picking it up for themselves can add it to their Steam wishlist ahead of its release.

Just posting a quick reminder for people that the controller launches later today. It's 10am Pacific Time, which I know is 6pm in the UK. Other regions can figure out the timings for themselves.

Fingers crossed you can get one if you're wanting one!
Just grabbed one. Had to spam the checkout button a couple of times but generally smooth. Interested to see if it will sell out. Shipping is faster than I expected too.

Also good guy valve for including shipping+taxes in the price. They probably *could've* listed it at like $80 for US customers at least

Edit: seems that they are batching out orders. Maybe not particularly surprising but I thought it was noticable. When I placed my order, it was listed as 3-5 business days. Now it's 6-10

Edit 2: Aaaaand they're gone

Grrr... Stupid servers screwed me... :(

Continually hit refresh, remade the order... Everytime got a 'try again in a minute or contact support'. Tried on tablet, on Steam through laptop and on the web on the laptop... Always the same. Had to leave after half an hour. Just got back... And the thing's out of stock (in Belgium or Europe). :(

That second edit... That was half an hour later, in the us?
Damn... Thing's more popular than i anticipated. Or the supply smaller. But there's certainly a market for it...

its the best controller you can get when you have a docked steamdeck or maybe even a bazzite (other os) system hooked up to a tv :O no wonder it sold out this quick

sold out about 30 mins after launch in the US, most people were stuck on the checkout page due to errors

Yup. About half an hour until it showed as sold out. There were a few minutes following where it appeared to be available again, but I wasn't able to confirm if anyone could grab it in these few minutes

Okay...that went about the opposite as last time: was logged in at 18:55 (my local time), refreshed at 19:00 and the "sold out" button switched to "reserve now". Clicked it, and it changed to a "cancel reservation". It was almost suspiciously easy, but I've got a confirmation mail. So...at least that didn't test my patience. :)
(and with my account's history, it's not hard to convince anyone I'm in good standing ;) ).

...
Though I'm not looking forward as much to the steam machine or frame (really price dependent), I really hope they'll use this reservation queue as well, because it's a no-brainer that there'll be a virtual stampede for at least the machine as well.
