Sony appears to have raised refurbished PS5 Slim prices by $100 on PlayStation Direct

Earlier this year, Sony confirmed a broad round of PS5, PS5 Pro, and PlayStation Portal price increases, with the new prices taking effect on April 2. Now it looks like Sony’s refurbished lineup hasn’t escaped the hikes either.

As spotted in a Reddit thread and confirmed by navigating to PlayStation Direct itself, Sony has increased the price of its certified refurbished PS5 Slim models in the U.S. by $100. The refurbished PS5 Slim Digital Edition is now listed at $499, while the refurbished PS5 Slim with disc drive is now listed at $549 on PlayStation Direct.

What makes the change stand out even more is that Sony’s certified refurbished original PS5 is still listed at $399, meaning the older launch-era model is now a much cheaper entry point than either of the Slim refurb options.

That leaves things in a pretty strange spot. Refurbished consoles are usually where buyers go to save a bit of money, but with the Slim refurb models now sitting this high, some players may start wondering whether “certified refurbished” is even much of a deal anymore. This also comes just weeks after Sony’s latest price increase for new PS5 hardware.

And to think there are still a group of incels here that whine about the $450 Switch 2 price, which has not changed and has even been discounted by retailers.
$ony $trikes again.

What criticizing consoles prices have to do with incels?? this genuinely sounds like something someone mentally ill would say, take a break off the internet or something.

I don't think the $450 Switch 2 price is that bad.

First party Switch 2 game prices on the other hand...

Considering people lost their minds over the potential Steam machine price gamers basically want everything for cheap, then when something cheap comes out they get upset because well it was built cheap.

Bro, you just throwing words around at random

Anyways, impressive how the big 3 seem to be fighting over who’s first in the race to the bottom

It might be the best time to pick up a PS4 console since those have been lately going down in price within the 2nd-hand market.
YES, do your local game store a favor lmao
I work at one myself, and PS4s are just sitting because nobody really wants them anymore, the PS5 can play all but like five PS4 games

A bit over a year till the PS6, so they have to make the launch price look good against the previous gen and one way to do that is artifically inflating the price now.
