I have some things I don't want anymore, some of which is too niche to bother trying to sell on my local marketplace, but since ebay switched from PayPal to payoner, I've been unable to use them because Payoner only accepts forms of ID I don't have.

Anyone know some international marketplaces I could sell some ultra niche things? (eg. sealed promotional decks from a dead cardass game)

Ko-fi and etsy sound like good suggestions.

I do have an old game console I plan to post here once I finish repairing it, but I'm not sure what the interest in niche cardass cards would be here.

It depends per country.

Spain for example has Wallapop, Vinted, eBay, Amazon. Your country possibly has similar options.
There's Facebook marketplace, TikTok shop, you can make a ko-fi and sell there, I sell unwanted stuff on my Etsy shop sometimes like CDs, etc. This place also has a buy/sell/trade forum as well.
Etsy just looks like a bunch of overpriced stuff and the shipping is unnecessarily high. Nope, pass.

Sellers set the prices there, because everything on there is "hand-made" or put together, and the very least. That's the cost of labor and love put into whatever craft you're buying. I ship my storage boxes on Etsy for about $6 to $5 on average within the USA if they're under 2 lbs, and over 2LBS it jumps to $10 (USPS prices it that way, not me) And anything going overseas tends to jump up to a minimum of $20, which does feel expensive. Just my experience tho, your mileage may vary seller to seller.

Facebook marketplace is a cancer given how people behave on there seemingly demanding 1/2 of whatever price you post it feels like or they get nasty about it or just ignore you.

Ebay we know is greedy they claim 15% whne it's more like 25-33% given their shipping theft and tax on tax.

I went with Mercari awhile back and so far it has been an amazing experience and it has a dual reach of the US and Japan (their home originally.) They aren't liars, no games, no nonsene, and up front they tell you they'll take only 10% + bank/card processing (amounts to very little.) If you sell something there for $100 you'll get roughly just barely under $8 for it. There are no auctions, it's just prices, and you can always live talk to and negotiate with buyers making bundles and all that and it's super smooth. Their tools on phone or on a browser are very sleek, fast, far more streamlined and doesn't harass you.

In England eBay doesn't charge fees to private sellers, but rather there's a buyer protection fee instead. eBay doesn't do the same in other countries? That's a shame.

That is a shame, that's what Mercari does in the US and Japan. The buyer protection fee which is a small percentage but it guards against shipping fraud.

In the US ebay does a final value fee and utterly lie about it just being 15%. They rolled it up years ago before they dropped paypal because a small percentage of members were skirting posting fees they used to have by charing 99cents for a listing (to post free) but then charge like $50USD (what they wanted for the item) for shipping. Ebay acting like toddlers decided to punish everyone and not just ban the cheats.

The problem is with the FVF it's a percentage of ALL monies brought in. So they'll take 15% of your base price, 15% of the state taxes (which is illegal), and also 15% of your postage the USPS would get to ship it. So you lose all those cuts, but then as they stole shipping you take more of your winnings to pay the loss in stolen shipping.

Also because how that works, the closer in value the price of an item is to the cost of the shipping of said item, you can find where if you have a $5 GBA game and ship it for $5, the actual cut comes out to just over 40%! I've rarely seen where you have a high cost item with almost no ($5~ or so) shipping charge where you can closely approach that 15%. Usually once ebay rips you off you lose a quarter or so.

I can literally post the item on Mercari for $8 and an item on ebay for $10, and I end up having more in my pocket using Mercari because they're not thieves.

I feel like it would be safer buying from Wish than tiktok shop for some reason.

here you can list for free, you get charged a final seller fee (the higher you sell the higher it is) and the buyer has to pay for the buyer protection it's included in the sale price.

problem with ebay is unless you make your items the lowest price possible or they are the only one on there they don't sell you always sell at a loss no matter what you do. the golden days of selling your stuff within a week and getting 90% of what you paid for back are over :glare:
