Twilight Princess PC port "Courage Reborn" gets new trailer, mods and texture packs supported, Switch and mobile ports also in the works

After the Twilight Princess decompilation efforts concluded last year, many have been waiting patiently (or not so patiently) for news of an inevitable PC port. For those who haven't been keeping up, there are actually two in the works: Dusk and Courage Reborn. A few hours ago a trailer was released for the latter, showing off the features you can expect to see when it does eventually release.

For those not interested in a trailer, the following were shown:
  • Wide-Screen support
  • Unlocked resolution
  • Unlocked framerate
  • Mobile and Switch ports
  • Mod support
  • Texture packs
  • Quality of life changes
  • Mouse and gyro aim
  • In-game menus
At the end of the trailer, we also get to see that the project will run on Linux, with the Steam Deck getting a specific mention. Though no release date was announced, the game does appear to be running well, giving us some hope that the "soon" in "coming soon" may not be too distant after all.

We'll cover any major news on the project as it crops up, but those interested in more can join the project's Discord server for the latest developments and the opportunity to test the port ahead of its full release.

This looks amazing, but can Nintendo legally take over it and then they're the ones who get credit for it?

It could be how we'll get TPHD on the Switch, but feels dishonest just to strike them with copyright and take what they've been working on.

The typo in the title name in the video is funny. Can't wait to try it out, I hope it has the useless Wii-U stuff as an option!

Nah, the release contains no copyrighted stuff, so they cannot kill the project. They can be spiteful and kill that trailer though.

Wowwww 😍

Nintendo could have done this at any point in time in the last 9 years of the Switch's existence, with zero effort and slapped a $60 price tag on it and enjoyed their money printer. Instead the decomp team spent 5 years reverse engineering the source code, and then in less than 6 months after getting we have it not just on Switch, but every major platform out there, I wouldn't be surprised if it gets ported to Vita like Animal Crossing did. Nintendo is such an ass backwards infuriating company it's not even funny.
