Bloodborne is still not coming to PC, but it is at least getting an animated movie

blood.jpg

Having released on PlayStation 4 more than ten years ago, Bloodborne is one game people just can't stop talking about. Whether they want it to come to PC or just run at 60fps on the platforms it's already available on, neither FromSoftware nor Sony seem to want anything to do with the Souls-adjacent hit. After a long time with very little news, we have this week heard that it is getting some attention from Sony, just not the kind people were expecting.

Announced at CinemaCon 2026, Sony will be working on an R-rated and animated adaptation of the game with YouTuber Jacksepticeye coming on as a producer. Little more is known at this point, with the plot, casting, and release date all being kept under wraps.

tried and true classic unfortunately.

Anyhow, i could care less since ShadPS4 is a thing and will probably be the better "product" even if sony does improve it on their own goddamn consoles. not big on soulslikes but i do like the art direction of Bloodborne quite a lot.

Sony failing to read the room once again.

Or is this some kind of feude between FromSoft and Sony? The former didn't greenlight a Bloodborne remake and instead went and announced a Bloodborne-like Switch 2 exclusive. Now the latter hires a freaking YouTuber to make a Bloodborne animation? That sounds like Sony really just wants to piss off FromSoft.
It definitely feels like there's animosity between those two. There's speculation saying Sony is respecting Miyazaki wishes and to not touch Bloodborne, but after seeing this news I doubt it now.

No disrespect, but I genuinely don't understand why this is being pursued at all, or why having some YouTuber as a producer is a part of the plan.

I suppose if it had to be a Youtuber it makes sense ro be him. He's obsessed with Fromsoft.

This is less than nothing to me. Such a movie will not enhance the legacy of Bloodborne, it will just taint it. Bloodborne is one of those games that feel truly enigmatic. You play it, leave it, and wonder what you just experienced days, months and years later. Then you replay it years later and have that experience again.

Any hyper-exposure to the Bloodborne "Universe" is just going to lameify it. I'm not interested in some character-driven animation that depicts everything perfectly. It's all the stuff that was never shown or explained in the original that made it so hard to stop thinking about.

Sony is the sole copyright and trademark owner of Bloodborne, and its characters/setting/etc.

However, it would be a faux pas to create a remake (or sequel) that Fromsoft doesn't appreciate.

More eCeleb slop.
Just no. I've never in my life cared about eCelebs, so why should I care that Sony is making a movie with one as the producer?
Because of the same reason you are supposed to care about characters in animated movies being voiced by celebrities. You're probably not the target audience, because hearing the name they slapped on the thing doesn't make you buy into it instantly.

Yeah, I prefer things are made by the owners, not imaginary scenarios that end up stupid and not making sense lore wise.

Nah, I enjoy cartoons and other western animations, I just dislike when Japanese games of manga/anime get shitty adaptations, the same goes for other countries too, it's the same reason I dislike dubs in general and prefer subs (be it russian, german, french, whatever).

me thinks alot of sheep have learned to be trained to follow the language. the use of celebrity is a perfect example. youtubers are not celebrities unless you got brain rot.

on topic: this is like a fan flick to me. star wars has tons of fan flicks. ive seen quite a few and they dont really add anything to the star wars universe imo. the only one that kinda did was the vader shorts that was supposed to be a movie but got so expensive that all that ever came out was just the shorts. they also stopped at the point of windu's return because thats when it really would turn into a true fan flick because they dont got samuel l jackson. a real celebrity. not the fake ones the sheep follow

So you are assuming people can't do a faithful or at least interesting adaptation of a media because the "creators" and artists are from different regions of the world...

Also, disliking dubs is fine I guess, but after reading that first comment I hope you at least realize that their main purpose is accessibility, I see so many purists being against them no matter what, which is cringe to say the least.

A Western animated movie? Pass.

I'd still be skeptical, but if it were by a Japanese studio there's a chance it'd be good. I'm personally just tired of how dull Western animation looks like, most of the time they don't even put effort into it.

Disney used to be the ones to create amazing Western cartoons and even they stopped doing it too.

This is such a pathetically weak defense and excuse, just like people do in politics to shut someone else. I'm just tired of this childishness.

Can't you already pirate this shit on PC, and it actually runs better on PC than it did on PS4/5?

I don't think you realize the irony of what you just said. The other guy first comment was textbook definition of xenophobia, which is commonly used to "shut" people that doesn't fit your definition of a "ideal world" based on their culture or where they came from, which is the polar opposite of what I argued.

You guys are literally assuming something will be bad just because "wEsTeRnS aRe tOuChInG mY jApAnEsE mEdiA", I'm sure someone could make a valid argument for why this can be bad, but it almost always defaults to that stupid mentality, that is what "childness" looks like.

Gonna have to side with you here, it's the same mentality as the whole "Woke vs Non Woke" shitfest and I'm honestly getting sick of it, give things a fair chance, which I probably will regardless if a trailer manages to catch my eye and it looks okay. So it's a 50/50.

I didn't even know this game wasn't on PC and is still exclusive to PS4!!! I always wanted to get this game, but it seems to me that the PS4 emulator that's in developnment is the only way to play it on PC.
So... It's on PeeCee.

No, it's because what's already out there than having a racist mentality like yours. I'm done with this troll.

Ok, serious question, how is any of what I said racist? My entire argument is against xenophobia, I know it is not the same as racism when it comes to the definition of the word, but those are still two closely related things. You could argue that what I said is anti-racism.

I honestly think you are the one trolling here.
