So I just looked at my PAL N64(s) again, on my CRT the old RF adapter actually manages to look slightly nicer than the composite, shame it doesn't support stereo sound this way.

Looking at some of the mods available for my model, I think they're above my skill set to consider doing right now.

One of the many reasons I love the Wii U, is that you can mix and match your video and audio options. You can have HDMI out and use analog audio if you desire. I think it's Nintendo's only console that supports both digital and analog video/audio options.

(This is my photo, before I moved and got a larger CRT)

Gamecube DOL-001? It has a digital video out but also the typical Nintendo multi-out, and I'm pretty sure using one does not disable the other. The original Nintendo component cables carried only video so you had to use the analog port for audio. The "gcvideo" adapters available now like the Retro-bit Prism carry both digital video and audio (HDMI not component), so it can do every mix-n-match combo like you described for wii u.

We knew Xeno Crisis, but Buck and Xtreme G (I’m assuming this is what the AMA meant as the double pack) are nice additions!

I predicted maybe Banjo as the double pack 😂

I want to know if Extreme G is a new game or the same one but with additional content. I guess we'll find out on Monday.

For any N64 fans I run ReCollect64, please feel free to bookmark these:

Thanks for sharing your blog, it was interesting to learn about all the latest N64 news! Particularly I found the N64 ports section interesting. Under the NDS section, may I recommend adding Hydr8gon's SM64 port? (technically that port is DSi only, due to requiring the additional RAM to load). Game of Tobi also created a SM64 port which runs on original NDS.

Did anyone pick up the M64 this week? I grabbed the red unit and a copy of Buck Bumble. I'll post a review once the system arrives!
Looking forward to your review!

I too grabbed the red one and a pro pad, arrives Tuesday.

I reviews Xibalba 64 recently:

I also got Extreme-G: Turbo Fusion to review, goes live this weekend :)

It’s just the same two (USA) games on a universal multi-cart. No QOL or extra content that I can find.

@radicalten thank you, and good shout, I missed that one.

I'm awaiting the red console in the mail, and they're saying Thursday and i'd believe it because these shippers would never (USPS aside) deliver early from experience. I've had UPS get stuff in town and sit on it for a day and a half because fast wasn't paid for. It amused me to see it shipped from where I used to live a long time ago so watching it move along has been interesting. So far from SoCal to NM, going quite slow in a truck for sure going only that far since Friday morning.

Current state of things. Got these screens from https://www.youtube dot com/watch?v=P--lQZHK51M

Same YT channel has several videos comparing them with different games.

Sharpness advantage to A3D is real (the horizontal upscaling just added) but I'm sure M64 will catch up. I don't think there's a 'wrong' way to go between the two. I see a lot of people saying 'I'll just stick with my original N64" but the original console can't produce video clarity like this even with an hdmi mod, do save states, or eliminate slowdowns like the A3D and M64. I own 2 original N64's and I still bought an A3D.
