007 First Light delayed for Switch 2, set to launch "later this summer"

With its May 27th release date fast-approaching, fans of James Bond and Hitman alike are getting excited for IO Interactive's latest game. Blending much of the gameplay they've refined with the modern Hitman entries with the iconic secret agent, First Light is set to present 007's origin in an entirely new way. Those intending to play on Switch 2 will be waiting a little longer though, with the release date getting pushed back to "later this summer" in a tweet from the developer.

Since the game's original announcement, no Switch 2 footage has been seen, with the 35 minute gameplay reveal that is available being recorded on a PS5 Pro. Though the Switch 2 release has been pushed back, 007 First Light will still launch as planned on the 27th of May for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series players.

Game looks great, even as someone who's never heard of the franchise. Hopefully the PS5 disc is playable so I can get it on day 1.
what kind of cave do you live in where you haven't heard of agent 007, a.k.a. James Bond??
(Genuinely curious, I'm not being an asshole.)

From the gameplay showcase it seems more gadget/distraction orientated than Hitman's main disguising gimmick. Still looks like it has a lot of the general feel of Hitman though, which is most of the reason I'm looking forward to it. The Bond IP doesn't really get me excited, but a game that plays like Hitman from IO? Sign me up!
Oh yeah definitely looking forward to it myself but won't be paying full price as I normally don't. With studios you can expect some similarities, like with Rockstar gta and rdr lines. Different plots and code obviously but mechanics are similar to each other. Figure io would be no different in Hitman and 007 over how it moves just slightly different mechs.

I'm enjoying all the Bond franchise discourse in this thread. I agree with several posters that the Daniel Craig Bonds were not as enjoyable as the Brosnan ones. I think the Daniel Craig Bonds just removed all the escapism in favor of dramatic character pieces, and that creative decision contrasted too much with what the franchise was known for (elaborate action setpieces).

Goldeneye 007 on the N64 is a classic. The N64 may not have had a robust library, but it had some solid exclusives. Is bashing Goldeneye 007 a current trend? I know I've seen a negative post or two recently, but I'm not sure what the arguments are. Either way, I've got tons of great memories of the game.

Speedrunning, skillfully removing the hat from the guy in the restroom (Level 2), going nuts with the cheats (explosions bringing the framerate to a crawl), that game was a blast.
