007 First Light delayed for Switch 2, set to launch "later this summer"

With its May 27th release date fast-approaching, fans of James Bond and Hitman alike are getting excited for IO Interactive's latest game. Blending much of the gameplay they've refined with the modern Hitman entries with the iconic secret agent, First Light is set to present 007's origin in an entirely new way. Those intending to play on Switch 2 will be waiting a little longer though, with the release date getting pushed back to "later this summer" in a tweet from the developer.

Since the game's original announcement, no Switch 2 footage has been seen, with the 35 minute gameplay reveal that is available being recorded on a PS5 Pro. Though the Switch 2 release has been pushed back, 007 First Light will still launch as planned on the 27th of May for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series players.

So is it just going to play like hitman with cars?
From the gameplay showcase it seems more gadget/distraction orientated than Hitman's main disguising gimmick. Still looks like it has a lot of the general feel of Hitman though, which is most of the reason I'm looking forward to it. The Bond IP doesn't really get me excited, but a game that plays like Hitman from IO? Sign me up!

007 might be series of ok action flicks for one go. But videogame wise the potential might we very good. When it's not a sloppy tie-in game

Oh no, the Switch 2 is getting a licenced game slightly later than everyone else, SURELY THEY'RE DOOMED THIS TIME! (What do you mean the new mario movie already made almost half a million in two weeks and broke a bunch of box office records and Famitsu blew yet another hole in the "Switch 2 is failing narritive" today with it passing 5 million sales in Japan?)

I consistently had fun with every 007 game from Goldeneye through the GameCube games. After that though, yeesh.

I still prefer Brosnan over Craig for Bond, but that's neithere here nor there... Or at least, that's what it should be. It's telling that, the best "original" Bond games all came out within the time Brosnan was the current Bond.

Awkward that some of the best "original" bond games were from EA. EA, of all the studios possible. Nightfire and Agent Under fire were, well, fire to play. Meanwhile the Craig remake of Goldeneye and 007 legends were mid at best and downright crap in its low points.

Fuck Daniel Craig, and fuck playing as "zoomer" James Bond! I'll still probably play it though, because I like the Hitman games.

Probably for the better. IOI's engine isnt exactly known for being the most optimized engine out there. And.... well I'm still haunted by the Hitman 2016 beta when the game ran at an average of 20-25fps.

The best, obviously, was GoldenEye on the Wii because of the Wiimote lightgun ability. Before that? Yeesh!

The game ran pretty bad in the PS5 Pro showcase. I presume it's rough on SW2.
Different developers, different engine. Take a look at Star Wars Outlaws. It shipped an absolute mess on PS5, but by the time the delayed Switch 2 version came out, it had no problems at all.

Oh great... Well if it's delayed, then it will be poorly recieved because everyone who wants to play it on Switch 2's launch will have already done-so on another system. They better add all the current patches up to the release-point of the game too, and any DLC to make the purchase worth the wait. So sick of this shit...

I was always hoping Brosnan's Bond would make a cheeky cameo in one of the Craig films. Like maybe they spot one-another at a club or something, and just give each other a nod. That'd be enough for the fanboy in me.

Game looks great, even as someone who's never heard of the franchise. Hopefully the PS5 disc is playable so I can get it on day 1.
