Its literally cheating by artificially altering values in your device's RAM. It won't help on a speed-run as you'll get thrown out/disqualified. For coordinates, its usually 3 float values that contain X, Y, and Z coordinates (there are often multiple copies throughout memory, but only one will override your current location to 'teleport'). As for door warps, its usually a 2-4 byte address that contains the next map ID to load. If you lock the value to a specific number, you'll always load the specified map no matter what door/cave you enter - though there are limits to what works in a playable fashion.

In any case, there's literally zero point in warping to Zalam early as nothing spawns and the story is disabled. RAM editing on 3DS is also immensely easier than doing so on a phone (even emulated due to how screwy the emulated memory works when trying to edit it externally).
Not using it in a speedrun for sure XD. Just out of curiosity and explorer spirit. Thank you. Your description helped me a lot :)

I hope I can figure out everything since this is my first time hacking. There is a detailed tutorial on thread page 1, so everything should work out

Ver 1.21 UPDATE

  • Added "Equipped" flag for weapons and armors.
  • All tables are now sortable.
  • Added export/import egg feature.
  • Egg/monster export and import now support cross-version transfers (USA->JPN, JPN->USA).
Tutorial updated monster skill ID list, SnS ID list, Armor ID list. Credit: TKT.

Seriously, PLEASE read the tutorial. It's not just "how to use the software".
=======================================
MHSEC-G (Monster Hunter Stories Editor Crappy - GUI) is an upgrade to my previously-released, commandline-based editor MHSEC.

Features:
- Character editing
- Monster editing
- Egg / Egg fragment editing.
- Item editing.
- Talisman / Weapon / Armor editing.

Tutorial:
Game mechanics, Monster Species IDs, Gene IDs, Talisman Skill IDs, etc...

Source code (C#):
https://github.com/secXsQuared/MHSEC-G

Release (Download):
https://github.com/secXsQuared/MHSEC-G/releases

Important Notes for running the editor:
1. .NET 4.0 is required.
2. The program will auto-save after every change. Therefore you don't really have to click "save" until the very end when you finish editing everything.
3. Please report any bugs.

Acknowledgement:
Everyone in this thread, especially mana_ran for gene translation. (credited in the tutorial).
Discussion thread in bbs.duowan.com (credited in the tutorial).
The tutorial page can't be found. Can you fix the link? The save editor looks alright, but it's almost impossible to use without the tutorial.

I'm not sure if it's a glitch playing this game on the 3DS right now, but I'm distributing JPN version 1.3, which includes con-save data and almost all DL content.

This save editor is not compatible with 1.3, but you just can't do otomons in the stables, but you can change the player name, the egg status and the tamago's!

After creating an egg in the ‘Dummy Set’, I changed the monster type in the ‘Cultivated Monster Species’, you can change the gene by double-clicking on it!

I think the following cheat codes can also help you deal with this.
Please make your posts in English.

I don't know if anyone is playing this game on 3DS right now, but I will distribute the JPN version 1.3 with comp save data and almost all content.

This save editor is not compatible with 1.3, but you just can't edit the otomons in the stables, but you can change the player name and edit the genes and egg pieces in the egg state!

After creating an egg with "Set Dummy", you can change the type of monster with "Hatched Monster Species" or change its genes with a double-click!
I think you can do most things with the following cheat codes as well.

Finally, I would like to thank all the people who made this save editor and the cheat codes.

There is no more tutorial. The spread sheet in google drive is gone. We are unable to use the editor without the spreadsheet.

Is it normal that it doesn't work with Steam PC version? The source code and the 1st post last updated is 2018 or something, maybe it's not for the current Steam release?

yes. because it was only designed for the original 3DS release and the mobile ports on android/iphone. remaster changed the save format on top of everything else it did.

@secXsQuared hello, I'm trying to use the information provided for saves on the Android port. From your repo I've got everything I can find, from armors, to weapons and monster gene slots as well. But I'm unable to find the eggs at all.

I can easily get the fragments from the 0x9790 offset, but the 0x53EC0 for eggs give no results at all.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the way to use the offsets is to locate the first inventory item, and then use the offset from it. Every set of offsets work, accessories/talisman, weapons, Armor, egg fragments, player and monster stats, except the eggs. Eggs are the only thing I'm unable to find for some reason. Can you perhaps explain/detail it out how you're finding the eggs?

Also i wanted to know what's the offset to mark a monster special, like dinavaldo/glavenus which cannot be released because it's a special monster.

Also another thing, I'm not sure why but after editing the saves I'm unable to add some items to the battle pouch. I suspected that it was due to me not being able to equip 3 star stuff yet, but now I can. But I edited one item to a different one (mega portion), also tried adding it in an empty spot and it is there in the inventory. I can use it outside battles but I can never add it to the pouch and I can't seem to find any info about it, which is really weird.

Edit: I'll try out @Maq47 Android offsets for the egg, though from what I noticed, his offsets seem way more erratic. Though perhaps that's due to version differences, not sure. I had easier time finding the offsets using the jpn offsets.

Last edited by Ruxos,
Is there anyone who has a save file for the Nintendo 3DS version of Monster Hunter Stories that includes the bonus content such as the USJ collaboration downloadable quests, which can also be confirmed from the link below?

https://www.4gamer.net/games/298/G029812/20161201068/

These were distributed only within the park for a limited time, from January 13, 2017 to June 25, 2017, so it is extremely difficult to find someone who still has them.

If you do have them, I would appreciate it if you could first back up your own save data using a tool like JKSM, and then share it.

The data is stored in a file named mhr_dlc.sav, so sharing just that file alone is perfectly fine.

I have searched everywhere, including the save data attached in this thread and those available for download on the Internet Archive. While I was able to find save files containing other downloadable content, I have been unable to find any that include the USJ downloadable content.
