New poster for the upcoming Super Mario Galaxy Movie spotlights a surprise character

With the Super Mario Galaxy Movie set to hit theatres next week, Nintendo and Illumination have put out one final round of advertising, with a surprise character making the cut. There is some debate as to when the Ukiki truly entered the Mario universe. Some believe the enemies originally known as "Grinders" in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island are the same species, though the first time the Ukiki name was used was for the enthusiastic hat-stealing citizens of Tall Tall Mountain in Super Mario 64. Regardless of their origin they've certainly made an impact, appearing as side characters and spectators in many of Mario's secondary adventures.

Moving into the spotlight for the first time in many years, one of these iconic characters can be seen in the latest poster for the upcoming movie. Though this isn't the first time we've seen an Ukiki in the advertising, with one notably throwing a Bob-omb at Princess Peach during the trailer that debuted in February, this more focussed advertising could hint at a more significant role than originally expected.

As of the time of writing, there has been no announcement as to who will be voicing the featured Ukiki.

I hope we get a Banjo-Kazooie movie; If you've seen Migration, the way those ducks are animated are incredibly Steve Mayles adjacent!
MICROSOFT PLEASE, I'LL BOW DOWN, I'LL GIVE YOU MY HOLE.

I'd care more if Wario was in it voiced by William Dafoe and Warluigi was in it voiced by Nicholas Cage.

I'm interested in more nintendo movies but I dont' want the illumination semi pixar slop style for them all.

star fox should have have puppets like wes anderson fantastic mr fox's. that would be cool
a banjo kazooie live action would be hilarious.
a super smash brothers movie with action figures would be interesting, maybe . . . .
legend of zelda done by studio ghlibi would be cool too.
metroid in the style of alien 1 movie would be interesting too.

the netflix pokemon show with puppets was really cool style wise too.

that would be extremely cool! And since Nintendo was once a toy company primarily, it would fit.

I'm happy to see Fox in the movie, ot basically confirms that they're interested in making movies for other franchises
I just think they should keep it quiet since the movie is so close to release

Already seeing idiots saying "Duh dis means there's gonna be a smash bros moovie... ah dur." like no it doesn't the only reason that Pikmin and Fox Mcloud is here because their games are in space. I wouldn't be surprised to see Samus now. How would a Smash Bros Movie's plot be, if you adapted it 1:1 it would be insanely boring.

It's not like there was a super intricate plot in the Super Mario Bros movie, and tournament arcs are usually the best ones in any given anime (or they could just re-hash Subspace Emissary). Easy enough to keep things moving when we're talking about movies that are only an hour and a half.

We're talking about movies, not anime, yes a tournament episode is good for anime because it's well... short... but an entire movie. heck no.

Uhh no, tournament arcs can span anywhere from five to thirty episodes, much more than an hour and a half. This entire season of Jujutsu Kaisen has been a tournament arc, and it'll probably run through all of next season too.

Schaffrillas did a great job explaining why

Can they introduce star fox in a film like this, to the 6:43 mark?

Underrated game BTW

There's no point in over-analyzing it, these are simple movies made for children. You throw in enough cool fight/platforming sequences, break up the tension every now and then with a joke, and everybody's happy. That was the entire formula of Mario Bros, and it'll be the entire formula of Mario Galaxy too.

As much as I still love playing through 64, I don't think a Star Fox movie would be any different either, it's just an IP that's less popular with young audiences now.

"Let me stop looking at anymore Mario movie videos..." Fox literally posted everywhere. Well, there goes a surprise. Lol
They're distracting us from the two true surprise cameos!

If Nintendo was smart, they'd buy that ip for pennies on the dollar, since Ubisoft is desperate and broke.

Welp this is a surprise. Though, I feel this shouldn't be advertised and left as a surprise fer the movie. Unless there's other surprises?

Either way, hyped to see it whether in theaters or on dvd/bluray. Would be really fun to watch with my dad!

"Here it is guys, the star fox film!"

That said, the music fits well, doesn't it?
